Good times this weekend.
I headed up after work on Friday to camp out for the night. Saturday I was woke up by the sound of Tom's obnoxiously loud truck roaring up Rutherford Road. Shortly after others began to file in. We set off at 0930 for a day of trails.
Mike on Powerline.
Jahmaal from ODF had us run the new section of University Firepower. This was a converted ATV trail, so it was pretty cool to be one of the first to run it.
From University Firepower we hopped onto Cedar Tree. The new section of UF cuts out pretty much all road time between the two. After Cedar Tree we continued onto Firebreak 5.
Vanessa made the trek down from up north in her X90.
I spy a Hootie.
The first section took us awhile to get our group of 16 through. After we cruised up the remaining sections. Dave finishing the third section.
After FB5 some of us hadn't gotten our fix yet so we ventured over to Airplane Hill. Doug of the EC's rocking the filter.
Dave.
After those who wanted to run the trail made it through the filter we continued up the trail, while the rest of the group drove around. That's when Ryan decided to give the main obstacle a shot.
What a stud.
After getting through the boulder field, and winching up the undercut ledge, Ryan was able to make some progress on the top portion... until the driver side 44 stub shaft let loose.
Getting him out turned out to be a bit of a chore, but we all worked together to get it done. Thanks to everyone for the patience. After we all made it out the top filter, we cruised back to camp for a tasty potluck.
The next morning the group set out for the east side. The first obstacle was a quick jaunt on Highway 6. From there we ran Rogers Road, and then Stick In the Nose. I've grown to really like this trail mostly for it's quick decent and tight corners.
Almost to the end, we heard over the radio Dave was "really broke." Huge thanks to Dustin of the EC's for jumping right in to help get Dave back up and running. Also thanks to Don for carrying a spare Toyota in his Toyota. Needless to say, after some wrench time Dave was back up and running.
Eventually we found our way to Archers Firebreak, and the V-Notch.
TheDude.
She's gettin it!
We ran Archers up and over to Waterfall. Dustin unleashing the four squirrels.
Darel working it. Props to Ryan for some awesome spotting.
Joey.
After Waterfall we all cruised back to camp.
I gotta say this was another fantastic weekend with the Evergreen Crawlers. Thanks for making the trek down. I'm already looking forward to Evans Creek later in the summer.
