ok been asked multiple times why toyota stuff in my scout and if I have to explain it one more time someones gettin slapped.:flipoff2: Ok here goes 1984 4runner weighs around 3600lbs just averaging what i've found on line on the low side. A 1964 scout 80 was said to weigh around 3100lbs 4 cylinder rig.
So scouts is quite a bit lighter than a 4runner so I think if guys can run 4runners and make them last I should be able to.
Next is why not just do a v8 t350 np205 set up. Well answer I'm cheap I can wheel a 4 cylinder for much less than I can a v8 and I want this thing to be light as possible.
What I've found online is a 327 with cast iron intake carbed runs about 575lbs.
I'll leave it at just that I found that a 2rz tacoma motor is only about 320lbs a w56 toyota transmission is roughly 75lbs, and the dual case set up is about 125lbs so add every thing together and its only 520lbs which is still less than just a small block.
Yes I know I'll never have the power to rip race around but I'm ok with that I'll have gears and not enough power to break to much so I'm ok with that cause I'm pretty cheap haha:flipoff2:
Didn't say anything about one ton axles well cause I'm trying to put some under this pig when I can so there. Thats my rant. Had to many people tell me the toy stuff will never hold up so just had to show I did my research first.

Ok got some work done this weekend before somehow all the money in my bank account got removed without my knowledge and had no money for anything and of coarse my bank was closed so kinda screwed me. But I did get my transmission pulled out and the shift fork pivot installed and transmission and cases reinstalled. I also got the passenger hub spindle deal off and replaced with one with studs that will actually hold the hub as well as the knuckle ball seals installed and the caliper on and all the brake lines are now ran and installed just need the brakes bled and the gf has tues off so she will help me then. I also finished my gas tank/shock mount cover done and installed By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 I figured since I was near the rear of the truck I would get my seat in while I was there but I had to add a brace because it was already bowed in the middle By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 Then I installed it By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 I have had some neon pink underglow. (Rickey Racer lights) (FAST AND THE FURIOUS STUFF) so I installed one under the hood for a light to see by. looks pretty neat By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 I also had to make room for the clutch slave cylinder so I did some modification its covered now but forgot to take a picture By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 Ha and my girlfriend. "yeah its a scout they are bad a$$ just like this look I'm giving you. Don't mess with the IH" By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29 HAHA actually she is really not a fan of the scout but supports it. I had to cover it up for the night so she could get some shut eye haha. actually the tops to heavy to put on by myself. By mudmainac3 at 2012-04-29

ok got a little bit of an update. So been looking for an ignitor plug for awhile now without having to buy a whole harness well I forgot I had sold a 3rz harness to a buddy to replace the one that was in his truck that was hacked up and low and behold his old man still had it and it had an ignitor plug on it and he also had an exhaust down pipe so picked both of them up By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-04 I also went and got 40' more tube for my cage and I started adding some to the cage. trying to get it done. was suppose to finish it this weekend but my buddy's gotta funeral so next weekend will be finishing it off. add the front bar across the windsheild By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-04 also added the lower seat bar on the driver side By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-04 I also added the braces from top center bar to bottom of rear bars. I hate notching tube by the way By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-04 I also went and bought some bolts for my gas pedal mount so it should be in tomorrow and if everything goes well she should be running aswell

alright well got some work done this weekend. What I didn't get pictures of is I got the battery cables routed, got the fuse block under the hood mounted, wired in the ecu all the way, wired in my ignition switch, and wired in a push button for the start. Ok well I also welded in parts of my cage (FYI cut off shirt not proper attire for welding) By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 I wired in my ignitor plug By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 I wired in my fancy LED toggle switch's' By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 I also wired in my reverse lights By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 and of course one of the lights burned out also have headlights, tail lights, and brake lights. By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 oh and apperantly one of the headlights that came with the scout is burnt out aswell well needed to load the scout on the trailer to take it to get cage work done this coming up weekend so had my sister tow me around so I can say I have officially drove it had to put a seat in it so I improvised By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-07 Oh and did I mention it officially runs now got a little work on the motor to get it perfect but it works for now. really loud with only the exhaust manifold. sounds like it has a miss but it runs so i'm stoked

ok well got some work done last night I drug the scout out to my buddies house to do some final bends on cage and get some stuff welded in. before we took it off the trailer we bled the brakes and the clutch. We got it there after I got off work By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 then we got it into the shop By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 then I had my buddy start welding in some roof braces for the cage while I bent some tube and got to notching By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 Here is how all the roof bars turned out By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 then at about midnight we called it quits and decided to pull the scout on the trailer well it did not go very well cause my lawn chair front seat made turning hard and it slid off the trailer By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 and we had to high lift the scout off the trailer By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-12 and here comes the bad news. I was messing around with it trying to make it run and decided this thing may have a bad motor. it cranks over a few times then catch's in one spot and will just stop the motor. and when I did get it started it was missing pretty good. I'm gonna do a compresion test on it today and see if it has low compression and if thats the case its not gonna make memorial day wheeling and i'll have to put my gf's 4runner back together so that I can take it.

Check the timing also. Ive had motors have the same symptoms and all it was was a timing issue. Just a thought.

Well I did some work today. I got my seat mounts started and driver side all in before I discovered that the passenger seat doesn't fit So gonna have to chop part of the rearmost of my tunnel and see if I can't get it to fit in all the way. By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-13 By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-13 cage is also partially painted By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-13 then I drove it about a mile kept playing with my cases's wheeled over a curb and some small tree stumps. I'm pretty set on the fact I will have to change my brakes over to power brakes not manual brakes because it does not stop very well with the 40's By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-13

Ok did some work after work. I installed my hubs on the scout so its officially 4wd now. boom goes the dynamite By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-14 I then decided time to clean some wiring so mounted my ignition switch and tied up all the wires and here is a shot of the gas pedal By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-14 I also mounted my ecu finally and cleaned up the wiring across the dash. next is to install the stereo, turn signals need wired, heater needs wired in, and tach wired in. By mudmainac3 at 2012-05-14 I then sat in the passenger seat for awhile lookin out on the world. can't wait for this thing to be done.
