After much encouragement and regular prodding by friends - I've decided to go ahead and try to get my HAM license. I would like to thank Shawn and Teresa Sullivan for their generous gift to me for volunteering at the OTC in September - a BAOFENG UV-82 portable transceiver. I'm a lucky girl... And Shawn even pre-programmed all the local frequencies for me so I could monitor while I work to get my license. Thanks Shawn! There is a License Exam here in Vancouver on December 20th and I will be attending and giving it my best shot. This is not my realm of expertise and I am going to have to study my ass off if I have any chance to pass this test - wish me luck... www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/search/page:1/Location.zip:98642/modelThis will be a great tool for communication during forest events and maybe even at racing events...hopefully...some day...again...maybe... This is where I am supposed to say, "let me know if you are interested in getting your license too and I will answer any questions you might have". BUT -I don't have a single clue what I'm doing, so go ahead and reach out to Dave Huttula (Hootie) with any questions. See you on the trails... Crystal
