Columbian staff writer Saturday, November 17, 2012 A man was injured after his 1-ton Dodge flatbed truck rolled over an embankment Friday afternoon on the L-1500 Road a few miles east of Larch Corrections Center near Yacolt.
At 2:42 p.m., six firefighters from East County Fire & Rescue and two from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department responded to a report of the accident, said Capt. Wes Long with East County.
They found the truck 50 to 60 feet down an embankment over the side of the narrow gravel road. The vehicle had rolled several times and, because the area had been logged, no trees stopped it, Long said.
Rescuers crawled down the embankment and placed the man on a backboard. Using a rope and pulley system, fire units pulled the man up the embankment.
He was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers from the Department of Natural Resources and the Clark County Sheriff's Office were also on scene and used their radio systems to help navigate fire crews to the area. "We all worked together," he said.
