Welcome to the Trails Town Hall Web page! This is the place to provide your opinions and suggestions for improving trails planning in Washington. Why does this Web site exist? The Washington Recreation and Conservation Office is developing two important plans that affect recreation on trails.
First is the Washington State Trails Plan. The 2013 Washington State Trails Plan will assess progress on providing trails recreation opportunities since 1991, identify emerging issues, and set the stage for a comprehensive trails plan in 2018. The plan will assess trails supply and demand, assess trails needs, identify key issues, and identify implementation needs.
Second is a plan to guide expenditures under the Nonhighway and Off-Road Vehicle Activities (NOVA) Program. The NOVA program provides funding to develop and manage recreation opportunities for activities such as cross-country skiing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, sightseeing, motorcycling, and riding all-terrain and four-wheel drive vehicles. A portion of the funding also is available for education and enforcement programs that encourage environmentally responsible use of the outdoors and for helping to minimize conflict between visitors.
We are seeking your opinions about the issues that should be covered in these plans. Click the button below and you will be taken to the ‘Comments’ page where we have posted a question for you to answer to help us understand the issues.
