So Tom, will these radios communicate with other brands? Or would we all have to buy the same radios?

So Tom, will these radios communicate with other brands? Or would we all have to buy the same radios? They are a VHF radio. They will communicate with any brand that runs on the same frequencies. They will not pick up CB channels. These handhelds are a inexpensive alternative to the more expensive hard mounts like the ICOM I run in my jeep. These are only 4w vs my hard mount is 50w. I cannot program in the frequency on the fly though in my jeep as its a "buisness band" or "race radio". I have all the desert race/KOH channels in my radio pre-programmed along with my friends from up north who have licensed their own channels. Winton/Maureen have the hard mount I believe in Lucky Jeep. These will not pick up the two way 5 watt hand held radios either that you buy in two packs usually at Sportsmans, costco etc.

Nice! Did you get the tri power, or just the v2 model?
Also, not sure if it's widely known, but you don't need a ham license to listen in, however, you do need one in order to transmit..
edit: I researched it, and you're right, any MURS channel is public... I guess that's why wally world uses it lol..

You don't need a ham license, these radios operate on commonly used business band frequency which is different from HAM frequencies.
I just got the v2+ though.
Edit: After watching some reviews and learning more about THIS handheld radio. It can go onto UHF and VHF channels. It'll also pick up GMRS possibly FRS if you program them right. For the cost its a handy little radio. But for the short of it. The frequencies used by race/baja/KOH and others in the "race radio" market run on business bands.

So to update this thread with a little amount of pics of what has been done in the past few weeks. I bought a rear bumper from the same company that built my front KDFabworks. Then started assembling my High Pinion Dana 30. 4.56 gears and the obvious ARB air locker. There she is in all her glory. With all new brakes, wheel bearings, bushings and Ten Factory shafts. I bought this low mileage assembly because I wanted the back 2/3's for its transmission, RubiCralwer & Np241OR Rubicon transfercase. Now I got these 2 cool sticks on my floor Pic of my 138k old unit on the floor Thursday morning. (Its all for sale) Also I re-geared my rear factory D44 to 4.56 with a 35 spline ARB, Ten Factory Shafts and installed my new exhaust that will help make way for the TNT belly up kit I still have to install.

That's a pretty sweet radio! glad to see you're not keeping the rubber ducky antenna lol.. I'm sure you've already got the list, but here's where I started with programming mine: www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=2963#cid-9063We'll have try and test out the range on our radios using the MURS freqs sometime

I have no stations from the emergency or county services on my radio. Its all my work, local clubs up here and a mix of baja/KOH team with support channels.

With the parking brake on I can go slow too. However I fear I'm still not cool enough to play with the wrangle kids.
