For the February club run we spent the day in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest playing in the snow. We met up at the Texaco station in Stevenson, WA at 0830. With J.D. leading the way we headed east on Hwy 14 until we turned off and started heading north to Willard and into the snow. Airing down We had 8 rigs with us for the day After airing down James and his Wagoneer took the lead. A little ways up the hill and he started to get a little sideways. But with some spotting, and some motivation from the cowbell dangling in the back ground he was able to make it our under his own power.

James kept chugging along breaking trail Then we came across this tree that was blocking the road But this tree was no match for the saw Once the tree was removed we were on our way again After breaking trail for a while longer the 35 year old cooling system of the wagoneer was having a hard time keeping up. So James pulled off to the side to let things cool down while J.D. took over the lead. Up around the next corner I got the rear end of the LJ on the edge of the road. And then Dusty and the FJ Cruiser fell right into my tracks. I ran down to give him a spot and take a pic and ended up getting blasted with a rooster tail of snow! The modified fullsize Jeep cooling system.

The next section of road got really steep and was giving J.D. and his CJ some traction and cooling system troubles so I took over the lead. It took me a couple tries to get around the CJ and then a couple more tries to find the right combination of throttle and gearing but then I started climbing the hill with relative ease. Untouched snow! We got up to a flat spot and stopped for a moment to let everyone catch up. Titan body deep in my tracks The group catching up. Once everyone was up the hill we started moving again. Only now I was really working to keep on moving. We went another mile or so until we found a nice wide spot where we stopped and had lunch and a snow ball fight. Winton playing around After lunch the going was smooth again for a little while. And then the snow started to slow me down. I was working it for a while. A couple feet forward, a couple feet back, a couple feet forward, a couple feet back until I knew that I had reached the limitations of the LJ. Thats when I called in for some backup. Brusier and the Lucky Jeep. Both with bigger tires, lower gearing, and beadlocks! Group shot
