Well, I wanted to post some before and after pictures of the rebuild, so here's the before: I bought a ram air intake off ebay for like $29 shipped... This was about a month ago... It's the only before pic I could find. Here's a during: On the left there is a sweet yard sale special I found for just $24! Here it is: It's an old '74 Montgomery Sears 'high performance' compressor. It's just a 12 gal, but pumps 5.4 cfm@ 90 psi ...so I'm happy with it. The regulator is broken so I had to get rid of it: That's a 'little' 30lb propane tank I found at a yard sale... I think I talked them down to $5 or something.. Here's a better shot of the connections: It was fun getting the original valve off... not.. So anyway, back to my pickup... finally got the engine out.. decided to drop the tranny too: Well, here's a look at the cab.. still trying to decide where I want to mount the CB... I was thinking behind the shifters... The guy at D&R Communications told me that under the radio was no good because of the bottom speaker, and the connections in the rear... Anyway, I'll be working with my machinist throughout the build (just taking pictures over his shoulder) but he says it'll be done in a week or two, and I'll throw more pix up when everything gets out of the hot tanks. -Phil.

Update.. Well, I think we found the problem! haha... if any of you have heard my pickup up on the hill, these pictures wouldn't surprise you... Looks good so far... Sun was bright... Well THERE'S your problem right there! Looked like it was only firing good on the 3 cylinder, and really mushy on the rest!!! I forgot to get a close-up of the HG, but it's no surprise why the lack of quality... they used fel-pro.. Some of the coolant 'tunnels' were full of sludge.... Anyway, the engine should be going in the tank soon. Tod told me that next mon/tues he'll send off my crank, and get the machine work done.

Update! Stopped by to see where Tod is at with my engine... About to go under the knife! On schedule... The block is in the tank, and he says that he'll be done next week! Here's the Machined crank and other parts ready to go!

Looking good. Alot of your links are broken though. Like the one that desribes what is wrong with your rough running engine.

Update! Well, things are moving right along.. Here's a look at my timing cover, which will be replaced... I know it's not too deep, but for $35 I might as well... a little now to save a lot later... Also, here's the update on the head. Stainless valves, a few new guides, new springs, and a fresh surface.. The block is also ready to go under the knife... First bore and hone the cylinders, then another dunk in the tank.. I'm thinking about using a Remflex exhaust gasket. Anyone have experience with those?

Remflex are the best header gaskets I've ever used...a little expensive, but well worth it!!

Yeah you would think, but then again the thick machined flange doesn't require much of a gasket.

You're right, but I don't really want to have to replace it for a long time... I picked up these for the extended differential breathers I'm going to add. $8.91 ea. from the Toyota dealership. If anyone has done this before, how far did you go with the breather lines?
