Trip report Hoodoo OHV area. 10/24+10/25
My buddy Andrew calls me a few weeks ago and says "hey if we are going to go check out Hoodoo OHV and quack attack this year it has to be next weekend because it closes on Nov 16 (I think)."
I said fine what's the plan?
We decided to make it a blitzkrieg event. Leave Friday after work get to detroit lake at dark:30 and roll out the the thermorests and call it a night. We packed up at 7 am, hit the gas station and headed up hwy 20.
(Now before I get too far I wish to make a statement in order to put any worrying minds at ease. if you are concerned about Andrew and I wheeling with only one vehicle I assure you your worrying would be in vain. Andy has probably logged more offroad miles in foreign country's (Russia, Africa and recently Nepal) then most of you have wheeled in the last few years. And if you are worried about my outdoor and four wheeling experience you have not been paying very close attention in the time we have known each other. Not to say accidents don't happen but we accept the risks and plan with safety in mind.) Rant off.
We found our way in the back way on road 820 I think. Instead of driving pavement all the way round. We found our way to the first trail 46 which was basically a road. Then to 47. Which is ready cool here are the pics from 47.
Right off the bat there is a single black Diamond and a double diamond option to the right. We went left but here's a pic of the double
As we poked along one can tell they forged the trail through ready cool terrains then went back and opened up bonus lines around the main trip.
They use "ohv boundary" signs on steaks to let you know where was ok to drive and where to stop
Some pretty gnarly line on this trail. We stuck to the main trail.
We came out of 47 and made our way through all the lesser trails working our way to Quack attack.
We the plan of poking our nose down it as far Andres we could safely and when we get bound up we back off, park and walk it.
And stuck
Then unstuck
View.
Upper quack attack entrance. We did not walk in very far cause......walking is more work then driving. So we will just let part be a surprise for another day.
