Hi, My senior year of football just got finished up and I decided to finally join the forum and club and start getting more involved now that I have some free time! I really want to help with the yacolt burn project as I live really close to there and go up there all the time. I'm happy to be here and will be at the meeting in January to hopefully meet some of you guys! My rigs a stock (for now) 96 xj but all my lift stuff just came in, just gotta put it on. I got bit by the wheeling bug and am super excited about it! -Tate

I played at Union High School. We made it to the top 16 in the state but lost to Federal Way.

Poorboy, I see that your also going for an overland type build! Thats exactly what i was wanting to do to mine, trying to go cheap tho and fabricate most of my own stuff.

Why yes I am! You can make "bastard pack" leaf springs from Junk yard parts. S-10 leaves I've heard work fairly well. Not sure what else though. My springs are shot, so I am going with full on replacements. Puck style lifts for the front end are dirt cheap. Don't relocate the brake lines, replace them with extended length Braided Stainless lines, you'll notice a big difference over stock lines.

Well I have been getting the parts together for a while now and ill list what i have right now (or is on the way). I have the s10 leaf springs for the bastard pack, 3 in rustys HD coils, Rustys fixed lower control arms, Iron rock off road double shear track bar and HD tie rod, New rear brake lines, front and rear brake line relocation brackets, iro hack n tap sye (it was only 60 on cyber monday), ruff stuff frame stiffenrs (sweet deal on craigslist), and a B&M trans cooler. And once i figure out my bumpstops and can measure my shock length with my new tires (33x10.5) ill get some good shocks. Im in the middle of a building a roof rack right now and then will do my bumpers and maybe some skids. If anyone has any comments or suggestions just let me know! Im open to help.

Hack n tap SYE's are no bueno. It's worth the expense to get a full SYE kit. With as many miles as these rack up, you'll want to pull the t-case apart to check for abnormal wear. While you have the t-case out, replace your trans mount. They are a common failure point. M.O.R.E make great engine mounts that are worth the cost. I had a set on my '87 after the OE rubber mounts fell apart.
Ruff Stuff frame stiffeners are on my list as well. As is a possible full cage in the future.

Ya I replaced my motor mounts about a month ago with some brown dog ones, the vibes were bad for a while but after some tuning they broke in a bit. I havent heard that about the hack n tap ones but i didn't do much research, just kinda an impulse buy. Hopefully I don't even get vibes, then I'll just sell it! I'm gonna have to find someone to weld in the frame stiffeners, all I have is a old buzz box stick welding and I don't trust myself with it on the thin unibody

If you paid a buttload for an SYE kit, then it is very likely a good kit and not a H&T. Who are you going through to build the new drive shaft? I would farm out the stiffiners as well. Not worth the risk.

Thank you 69jeepster! I got the Iron rock offroad hack n tap sye for 40 percent off with free shipping so I went for it. I know a certified welder who has a really good mig welder I might be able to pay to do the frame stiffeners
