Bulbs... All the bulbs...
Here's what kicked this off. The bulb in this one was temperamental at best. Out with old bulb, in with the new. Even though it's something not paid much attention too, in the dark it becomes a pain to figure out what mode it was set too. Getting that changed out made a world of difference.
I've been watching bulbs die in the cluster for awhile now. A monumental PITA to change them all, but they are done. A lot of the bulbs didn't want to come out of the connectors and some of the connectors were glued in with a drop of super glue it seems. Me thinks someone was a bit paranoid about loose connections. The bulbs that weren't blown, were blackened internally. They all got changed. I'm in there, so might as well change them out.
The switch pod lights have never worked, which I never paid any mind too, but since we're there, now's a good time to remedy this.
Rear Wiper switch
Rear Defog switch
I even fixed my Park Brake Light issue. It hasn't worked since I bought the Little Red Wagon last year. The bulb test worked, but the light would not illuminate with the brake set. Turns out the connection tab on the switch broke. Fortunately, it broke off with just enough to slide a female spade terminal on... A quick fix was made with a Jumper made out of a male and female spade terminal on the short piece of wire between the switch and the factory connector. Sorry no picture of this.
I checked all the bulbs in the idiot light panel as well. They were all good, but the glass of the bulbs was blackened internally. So they got changed. What a difference!
I haven't had Console indicators for a couple months, so the bulbs got changed there too.
While the console was out, I gave it a thorough scrubbing in the kitchen sink. I feel so much better now that it's squeaky clean instead of being covered in gunge.
Am I strange for going through all this for just a few bulbs?
