Hello All.....
One of the Manufacturers I represent is Bulldog Winch and I want to have fun with it..... So, looking at past reviews, shoot outs, etc. I realized that there hasn't been a solid winch review or shoot out in quite some time. I am interested in doing a real world winch performance review, putting Bulldog Winch vs Warn vs Smittybilt vs ? vs ? vs ?. I have already discussed this some with Tommy and others and wanted to get additional input and potential participants. I am thinking it would be good to have at least 4 different winch manufacturers in the same weight class, 8K. Already participating is a Warn Zeon 8S, Smittybilt XRC8.... Anyone else out there interested in participating??? Might be a good opportunity to hold a Winch clinic too for people new to winching.....
So far I figured winching at X angle, X weight and measure speed and operating temperature... What else should be tested?? Now, looking for input.... GO!
Joe

I'm new to winching, but what about line out speed? Sometimes I watch videos about timed competitions, and the guys are being slowed down because of how long it takes to winch out if there's no free spool... Or even if there is a free spool, or clutch that disengages, the line is difficult to pull out... Maybe something that can measure how hard it is to pull the line out 50 feet, with x pounds of pressure? I'm thinking of something like the fish scale my grandpa used to weigh the sturgeon he caught.. I dunno... But I'm DEFINITELY interested in participating, and also in the winch clinic!

I like the idea of testing free spool.... That is a great idea! What type of winch do you have?

Haha... well, sadly, I'm still in the "it'll get there" stage of my build. I don't have a winch as of now, but I'm hoping that won't prevent me from attending a winching workshop I'd be happy to be a cable/rope runner
