I think Bruiser is ready for some HD high steer work. Those parts were new not too long ago I thought. (Crystal call your friends at Reid and get some knuckles coming...)
Anyways great pics looks like all y'alls had a great time!
Thomas - always the salesman
We don't really have the time to put together the HD High Steer work right now (that is the plan eventually).
We are kind of busy with Einstein...
In the meantime - I was really impressed with 4-Wheel Parts yesterday.
All of the steering components on Bruiser were purchased brand new in May (same replacement item that has been on Bruiser and worked flawlessly for almost 6 years of hard-core wheeling).
We purchased the entire unit instead of just replacing the worn components because we wanted to have a "spare" setup - just in case.
Too bad the spare was laying on the shop floor instead of in the trailer on Saturday - haha.
Although I guess Darel's karma is improving - because at least it didn't fail in the middle of The Busy.
Maybe Tommy's good karma crossed over...
The only concern we had in May at the time of install was that the manufacturer had "upgraded" the design - history has shown that upgrades rarely work in our favor.
We recognized a flaw in the "new design" and had some concerns about one particular area but didn't really have the time to change gears - we needed Bruiser up and running ASAP.
At that time - we expressed our concern about the design flaw to both the manufacturer and 4-Wheel Parts - but upon their insistence - we went ahead and ran it anyway to "give a chance".
That area of concern that we discussed is EXACTLY where it failed on Saturday.
Good news though! 4-Wheel Parts allowed me to return the "failed" components for a full refund and apply it to the purchase of the Currie CurrectLync setup.
There is no logic in trying to run the exact same component when we knew that the design had a fatal flaw.
Knowing that Douglas has the Currie set-up on his TJ and that it has held up to extensive abuse - we decided to give it a whirl.
I think it is also important to mention that 4 Wheel Parts had both steering systems IN STOCK and ON THE SHELF in Portland on the day I needed them.
In this day and age of having to wait 2-3 days for everything off-road - that is pretty impressive to me and I appreciate the Portland 4 Wheel Parts team for improving in that area.
Also, I received the awesome club discount and the purchase will apply to the 3% payback to the club at the end of the year...
So with the exception of a grumpy Hemi Charger bumping me out of my Dyno slot for Einstein yesterday - it was a good day!
