It is always nice to have an "alternate" operator for each day to maximize the use of our funding by keeping the rental equipment moving constantly.
Alternates also provide an opportunity to "SPLIT" days - as we tend to work 10-12 hours days on a regular basis
What do volunteers need to bring?
Gloves, work boots, long pants, long sleeves – dress in layers appropriate for weather.
Current weather forecast is predicting cool and party sunny - perfect working conditions...

YACOLT TRAIL NEWS UPDATE:
RE: THINGS ARE LOOKING GOOD FOR MOTORIZED TRAILS IN THE YACOLT BURN STATE FOREST!
In addition to Piston's Wild Motorsports volunteers and Jones Creek Trail Riders volunteers building new trails in the Yacolt Burn, the Pacific Cascade Region of the Department of Natural Resources has recently hired a full-time (temporary) equipment operator to work primarily on the development of new motorized trails! The new operator, in coordination with Larch Corrections Crews, has been working hard for the past month on additional 4x4, ATV and Dirtbike trails in a section located NE of the Mt. View trailhead. In addition, DNR staff has been working with a bridge engineer in preparation for the next section of trails (located NE of Old Ugly) that we will be working on in the 2018-2019 construction season. The 2018-2019 new motorized trail development will be supported with a $590k RCO grant that should be awarded later this year. If all goes as planned, there should be quite a few new miles of motorized trails open to the public by the end of this year.
Thank you in advance for any assistance each of you can provide.
We are really looking forward to opening some more new trails in the Yacolt Burn and we hope you are too!
Happy Trails!

SUPPORTING FUNDS FOR WORK PARTY MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES ARE BEING PROVIDED BY RCO DEVELOPMENT GRANT #14-1809D
Yacolt Burn Recreation Plan Off-road Vehicle Trail Development
This 2-year grant was awarded in 2015 to the Pacific Cascade Region of the Washington Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $373,800 + DNR Matching Funds of $93,700.
This brings the total of this development grant to $467,500 to develop 6 new miles of motorized trails in the Yacolt Burn State Forest (including 4x4, ATV and Dirtbike trails).
RCO grants are funded by your OHV fuel tax dollars and OHV permit dollars - hours worked by volunteers contribute to DNR's eligibility to continue to receive these grants in the future.
Specific details about the grant can be viewed here: secure.rco.wa.gov/prism/search/ProjectSnapshot.aspx?ProjectNumber=14-1809
