Well, I haven't been to busy on my XJ lately due to a certain other vehicle I have purchased but I found some time to put another trail goody on. My loving wife purchased a JCR tank skid plate for me for Christmas. So I went about mocking it up to make sure it would fit before I painted it. Good thing because I had to hog out one mounting hole just a tad and weld a stud on to mount my exhaust hanger. There is a bummer to the story though. I cant use my old Receiver hitch because it conflicts with the skid plate, so I have no receiver right now. My plan is to get a whole new rear bumper that is a lower profile for better departure angles. The other bummer with this situation is that my quick disconnect brackets for my mud flaps were welded onto my reciever, so it looks like I will be cutting them off or fabing up some new ones to weld to the tank skid. It needs a bath, oh my gosh

Well I hope the good ones are in the axle by the time we leave and the lesser qualitys are in the trunk.... Im actually going to run the stock ones till one breaks. I want to know how much they will take so I can get a more accurate idea of how strong the Yukon ones are and just how much the stock ones will take. P.S. I got your message about the U-Joints. Ive been real busy lately. I wasnt expecting them this early!

Not to be rude Joey but this is where I will disagree with you. I will talk more in person but I hope you get my drift. Moab isn't the place to "test" your parts for knowledge purposes. If you want to test one we can drive up to Randys in Everett and put them on the machine and break them all you want.

i gotta agree. takes an hour to change them out at home. no big deal right now.. but an hour on the trail puts you in the "That guy" catagory..
besides.. the stockers are to get you off the trail and last long enough to warranty the Yukon's..

I see your points, but not to be rude I will do what I want with my Jeep Testing my vehicle to its limits is part of the fun in understanding what its capabilities are. Putting a label on someone for a faulty part is a jerk off move in my opinion. No telling what might happen while pushing your parts to the limit. We can humbly agree to disagree But if I get randy one night I may change them out who knows, but for now there staying out because I have more to worry about.

Shattering parts on your own time is one thing but shattering parts on a trail run with possibly hundreds of rigs waiting behind you is just dumb. Im not tellin you what to do with your rig but Id highly advise that you change into your alloy shafts before Moab. Heck I'll do it faster then you know it on the rack at woodys for you. I'm trying to look out for you too Joey enjoying the sport does not include greasy trail side repairs.

I get your point Tom and I appreciate the offer of help, but like I said before I'm going to do as I planed to do, and I'm not going out and trashing on my stuff till it breaks. You mention shattering my parts on my own time but not on a trial run with hundreds of people.......since when can anyone plan on knowing when parts are going to fail? I highly doubt that anyone knows when something on there vehicle might break unexpectedly, so unless you break in your driveway your always going to be on a run with others. If I get the time to mess with it I will and I might hit you up for the help. I'll say it again, right now I just dont have the time to mess with it. PM or Call me if you would like Back on Topic with my XJ build!! Built and installed my rear cargo storage box. I like hows its coming along. Its not quite finished though I have to do some fine tuning and as I add more things to the must have list it will get some reworking. I will use it for the first time tomorrow on the run at TSF so I will have a better idea of modifications if any. Pics To Follow ;D

Wow really guys your bashing on him for having trail spares? If any thing you should be talking him up for being prepaired, and trying to teach guys like me that don't have trail spares that I carry when I go out. Joey when it breaks we will have the parts to fix it if it breaks.
