SUPPORT YOUR SPORT!E-mail received today from Tod Petersen, Political Action Committee Chairman - WOHVA * * * * * Washington State ORV Funds Under Attack Again In 2009 the Washington State Legislature passed legislation to divert all of the offroad vehicle gas tax and ORV permits funds (Nonhighway and Offroad Vehicle Activities account) and gave them to State Parks for 2009 and 2010. None of this money was spent to benefit ORV users. Now with another budget crisis right around the corner and the Legislature returning to session soon, State Parks has been instructed to propose a budget with no state general fund allocation. To do that State Parks have said that they must have all of your Nonhighway and Offroad Vehicle Account (NOVA) money permanently. It is very important to let Governor and your Legislators know that it is not OK to rip you off again. You can contact the Governor via this link: www.governor.wa.gov/contact/default.asp You can find and contact your State Senator and both you State House of Representatives member via this link: www.leg.wa.gov/pages/home.aspx Here are some example comments to consider. Use them as is or, better yet put the same idea in your own words. - Please DO NOT redistribute funds intended for the Non Highway and Offroad Vehicle Activities account AGAIN!
- In 2009 the legislature took all of these funds and gave them to State Parks where none of those funds benefited offroad vehicle recreation in any way.
- This account was created when offroad vehicle users volunteered to waive their legal right to a fuel tax refund in exchange for a self-directed state account to provide funding for programs that benefited offroad vehicle activities.
- These same citizens volunteered to have their license tab fees increased so long as those monies were also placed in the Non Highway and Offroad Vehicle Activities (NOVA) account.
- To redirect the funding away from the NOVA account again would be nothing short of stealing from the very same citizens that were willing gave the state their hard earned money. Tod Petersen Political Action Committee Chairman Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance Email: tod701@aol.com

And at the VERY LEAST>> use the above link and copy and paste some of the above copy (and add a few personal lines) to a letter to the Governor. It only takes a second and will bug her and maybe educate her.
I sent my letter just before posting this. Dave.

The main message we saw in Johnson Valley was: "KEEP PUBLIC LANDS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!"

Sorry guy's I have been so busy fixing our car so we aren't using the Jeep as a Taxi service. I am working on signs tonight after the kids are in bed. They should be done tomorrow I can drop them off with someone or you can stop by and pick them up tomorrow for Friday morning. If you have any questions you might text me or call me on my cell. Like I said I have been really busy.

Post up.. are you going? Are you meeting for breakfast? Or.. meeting after breakfast for the caravan? Or... are you planning on meeting us up there?
We do need to support this event. Dave.

Hey Dave,
Darel and I will be joining you for breakfast at Country Junction and heading up for the rally. I will have two open seats in the Explorer for passengers.
As much as we would like to take the Jeep - they are predicting ice for tomorrow morning and 100 miles is just not a fun drive in a short wheel base vehicle on the ice...
Do you want me to get the signs from Ryan tonight or do you already have them?
How many signs are there?
Crystal

PRESS RELEASECountless families and businesses from across Washington are converging on Olympia for a public awareness rally on Friday, February 25, 2011. All forms of Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) recreation users will be represented: Four Wheel Drive, ATV, Motorcycle, Rally Cars, etc. The current system of funding and managing Off-Highway Vehicle recreation opportunities on public land in Washington was launched with a similar rally in the 70’s. WHY IS A PUBLIC AWARENESS RALLY NEEDED NOW? Tax dollars are being misappropriated! Funds designated for Off-Highway Vehicle recreation are being stolen. Come to the rally and find out more… Demand is growing fast! Sales of Off-Highway Vehicles continue to increase significantly. OHV lands have been closed. Other groups who have both far greater directed funding and a stated anti-Off-Highway Vehicle agenda have raided the current funding source. Legislation is continually introduced that intends to curtail this valid recreational activity. Tens of thousands of OHV recreation enthusiasts are not being served appropriately! This is a family-oriented activity enjoyed by persons from all walks of life and professions. Hundreds of clubs bring families and enthusiasts together in positive, contributing scenarios. Many millions of dollars of Washington’s economy are at stake! Off-Highway Vehicle enthusiasts not only purchase their vehicles, they buy RVs to camp in, trailers to tow their vehicles, aftermarket equipment, clothing, etc. Further, they bring vital economic input to the small communities adjacent to recreation opportunities. Contact: Kevin McGrath @ 360-789-2835 Rally is sponsored by the Washington Off-Highway Vehicle Alliance (WOHVA). WOHVA represents over one-quarter million Off-Highway Vehicle users inWashington State. For more information on WOHVA go to www.wohva.org .
