Great job on the tube fenders! Are those jack/axle stands made from old third members? I'm pretty sure my next wheeler is going to be CJ based. I dig the whole build. Looking forward to seeing you on the trails soon.

Well again it has been a while and I have not updated this. I've gotten plenty more work done on the Jeep but not much to report/I have been to lazy to do so, until now. I got the 35's mount up and bolted on. Drag link built and steering dialed in and everything tightened down. Spend a little time building a steering box brace and skid for the box off the bumper that was fun. Got the tube fenders finished up. I had to talk the boss out of some inner fender wells off a trashed set of old CJ-5 fenders. An afternoon of cuttin and splicing those were done and off the list. Then with those done I was able to get the winch wired up and mount some of the controls in the cap. I still need to run the cables for the brake and engage. I'll get to it someday. Next were shock towers I don’t know if you have ever seen stock CJ shocks but they are the length of 2 liters soda bottle at max. Not gonna happen so I picked up a set of 85 f150 front shock towers form Hannah and back to the garage for a few nights of cutting and welding. And here you go. 12” travel shocks can now go in the hole. These are just loners till we stretch this thing out with the forklift at work and get some measurements. I know chrome dont get you home but it was free and looks so sexy. I couldn't help myself Then it was time to bleed the brake as I had switched over to the GM calipers. Well that did not go as well as I would have liked. I bought some speed bleeders and started pumping fluid. Lots and lots of fluid but to no avail. For the life of me I couldn't get a brake pedal. It would kind of build some pressure then as soon as I started the rig and got the vac booster working it would hit the floorboard. Tom/bigstuck came over after work and we bled them some more. Then we got bored and took a brake then bled the brakes some more. Oh did I mention we bled the brakes. I thought I would take a few days off and let the brakes sit and think about what they had done wrong. Then I got the wife to help bleed them some more. Still nothing we then decided, as usual the answer must be MORE POWER. I found several guys online that were using the master cylinder from a mid 80's E350 van. So I figured for $30 it was worth a shot. It has a larger bore therefore the ability to move more fluid to the larger brakes. And>>>>>>>.......... It worked...........<<<<<<<<! <<<<<<<>>>>>...............>>>>><<<<<<<< I backed it down the driveway and stepped on the pedal. AND STOPPED. So I thought to myself lets go for a little drive. (For the first time in like. What? 4 months) I headed around the block and hey no one died. So I took the bigger loop around the neighborhood, again not a signal person passed away form me driving the Jeep down the road. So I headed home and put a wrench on a few nuts and bolts just for safety’s sake and headed back on the road. It did amazing. The shackle reversal did wonders for the ride. The longer springs really smoothed things out and to my amazement the 3.55 gears and 35” BFG’s still worked ok with each other. I can still brake the tires lose at will at least. So all in all I am a very happy man this weekend. I still have a few things to rap up before its first trail début but it’s coming along and I can finally see light at the end of “this” tunnel. As we all know these things are never done but I’m coming close to the end of this stage. This is the wife and I headed over to bigstuck's house for the Timbers game Saterday night in the CJ. Oh we have an alley behind the house so it has been Mall crawl approved. here is the proof.

I can attest that it drives really sweet. I took it out for a spin before the game got rolling and I was really impressed with how well it rode and drove. I was afraid the waggy springs would be on the stiff side but it did great...

I drove it all of last week trying to get some mile on it. Then Saturday I pulled the manual cooling fan and installed a Taurus 2spd electric fan, but did not have all the wiring to hook it up. I'll decide which one I'm going to use today and probably finish it up tonight or tomorrow.

Well it been a while and I have a few things to report. After Evens creek I had some body damage. I knew that I needed some rocker gaurds but I had not made any and had not found any after market ones that would work, ei where cheap enough. Then Tom notice that poison spider was clearancing out all their Currie body armor. So for $140 to my door I bought these. I really liked them cause they went so far under the tub Also they mounted to a body mount not just sheet metal the hardware was a joke some I stopped by Fasten all and grabbed some nice grade 8 stuff. Due to the front tube fenders I had to trim a little off the front. Looks good Then Saturday evening two weeks ago my wife left me alone without any parts to put on the Jeep and this fell off. I decided that I needed to make a “flatter belly skid”. I really wanted to be like the cool kids that have perfectly flat with the frame rail skids but being that I have a Dana 20 not a 300 and no one make a clocking ring and I didn’t want to try I settled for a “flatter skid” I ended up getting a TJ Super Lift trans skid donated to the cause This thing is pure beef. Must be ¼ “ thick, nice black powder coat. Only problem is it does not fit. First I had to make an independent transmission/t-case cross member I don’t have any pic’s of that yet. So I made 6 of these. 2” x 3” x 4” 3/16 Rednecks drill press Then you weld them on like this Drill 6 hole and bolted it on I think it turned out pretty good Hangs down 2.5" from the frame rails...I pretty happy with the results

What a great day at the cruse in. Had to bust out the pack able trail jacket just in case the light sprinkle we had decided to open up but it ready didn’t rain that much on us. Many very cool rigs and good food. It’s always fun to watch the RTI; people like to think their rigs the best super crazy flex machine. Then you get it... That’s right it…THE FACE! The one when they are at the “top” (as far as they can go) looking at the guy spotting them up in this case Darrel, like “stop! What are you talking about my junk will flex more then that?” but in reality it won’t. Ha love it!!! As usual we had an awesome showing of support by many different vendors and businesses. I saw some very cool raffle prizes flying off the tables. Thanks Crystal, Kira, and Dave for rocking that raffle. I….being a supporter of the cause bought my $20 worth of general raffle tickets just for kicks and I wanted some cool stuff. I kept checking my number and not winning anything. Kind of a bummer. Saw some neat things being given away. But not to me NOTHING!
Have you ever had THAT feeling though? Like “I would be ok if I didn’t win any of these things if I won the set of BFG tire we got donated. I had bought $20 worth of the BFG ticket a month ago while I was selling some to someone else then Sunday I figured why not I’ll buy $20 more. As I stood there while the ticket was drawn with my hand on my phone I thought again “well I didn’t win anything’ that’s ok I still might win these…..Right? No way I’ve never won anything this big. Then my phone rang. I thought that’s a weird coincidence. I looked at the screen and it was Crystal. Why would she be calling me? Holy crap she’s calling me. {Hello?} {Paul?} {ya.} {you won} (B.S.!} {yup} {no way} {yup…what do you have to say?} { YIPPIE!!!!!} and that was that. How amazing. I could not be happier. I spoke with David at BFG tires Monday and my 37x12.5r17 KM2 are on their way from Cali this week. Now I just got to figure out how to fit 37”s on a CJ-7 with 3.5” of lift and only 3” on front stretch….let the games begin.

Not going to say much cause I dont have much time for the Heep right now but here is a quick pix of what will be going in after life settles down a little well a lot Before the baby came, I pulled the tank and through it in the back of the Jeep for now. To much axle and wheelsbase to fit. It will get replaced with a cell later. Also pulled the AMC 20 and now it sits, on jack stands.
