Let the Kids Ride VideoLearn How to Act Now On February 10, 2009, the US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), who's responding to the threats caused by lead found in children's toys (mostly from China) had implemented broad sweeping requirements that will make it illegal to sell motorcycles, ATV's and snowmobiles to those age 12 and under. UPDATE from "Thumper Talk" We’ve Won A Battle, But Not The War – Small CC Bike/ATV Lead Ban UpdateThe Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has unanimously voted for a stay of their enforcement of the law banning the sale of bikes, ATVs & their replacements parts intended for ages 12 and under until May 01, 2011. However, this is a bit of a hollow victory because it does not overturn the law on the books, so dealers are still subject to potential liability at the state level because each state’s attorney general does not have to follow the CPSC’s lead. You can read more about this in a press release put out by PowerSports Business eNews: www.powersportsbusiness.com/output.cfm?ID=2139355The endgame is an amendment to this bad legislation excepting bikes & ATVs and this will ultimately come from the Congress. So, here are two actions items that we desperately need your help on: Contact your state’s Attorney General and ask them to follow the suit of the CPSC so that dealers in their state can again start selling these machines and their replacements parts. You can find your state AG here: www.naag.org/attorneys_general.phpContact your Congressman and ask them to exempt these machines and their replacement parts from the CPSC Improvement Act. You can do this quickly and easily by going here: www.arra-access.com/campaign/adv_s608Don’t assume someone else is standing in the gap. We all need to take the time to fight for our rights and freedoms and for our kid’s right to ride! (thanks to Thumpertalk.com for this post!)
