Is anything going on with these trails? I havent seen anything on here in awhile. Have you guys gave up? How do I say this....... NOPE!!! Were still working very hard on this project. With the amount of precipitation the hills have gotten latley we cant really do much till it stops. Erosion is a bad thing and thats what we would get if we were working right now. So we wait. Its been 4+ years in the making. Have patience grasshopper we will be there soon enough. Stay tuned as we plan to have some serious work partys coming up.

We should know more in a few days (wk 1 or 2 of Nov. 2011)... we were promised our paperwork would be going through weeks ago.. we have a call in with DNR now to find out where things are.
personally... and don't quote me... cause this IS MY OPINION.
I think we are not going to get up there this winter. I think the season has about shut us down for winter. I expect approval soon,,, but weather will prevent us from starting anything until snow melt in spring... again, my opinion.
We DO appreciate all of you who are interested in this project and WILL be asking for your help once we are approved and weather will let us get started. We Will keep you posted when any real news comes along. Thanks again for your interest,,,, we will keep in touch. Dave.
Dave.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to come out to our meeting last night - what a great turnout to show support for the Yacolt Burn Trails Project!
We've had some really positive input from "potential" opponents about our project and everything is progressing nicely. I can't put anything official in writing today, but should have some really good news to post next week about our progress towards SEPA.
Please remember that Government moves at a much slower pace than any of us would like. We are riding in the passenger seat with no access to the throttle - we can grab the steering wheel and holler at them sometimes, but unfortunately, no throttle. Please stick with us - we'll get there eventually...
I know alot of you are checking our forum on a regular basis for updates about the trails - please know that we work really hard to stay optimistic and choose not to dwell on bad news, but prefer to celebrate the good news instead...
I promise that I will post "good news" as soon as it is available!
In the meantime - get out there and enjoy the spectacular Pacific Northwest. Some people have no idea how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful corner of this country.
Now go play!

I've been in Oklahoma for the last few months for work, soo... what's happening with the trail system? Anything new? Has all the SEPA stuff come and gone? Just wondering if it's the same 'ol back and fourth three steps forward, two and a half back with the gov agencies, or if almost time to turn dirt. Thanks in advance, Josh.

Sorry Josh we are waiting on DNR to get back to us. They are working on the comments that came up during the sepa process. There was one large comment that they are working on replying to. Until there done with that we can't move forward. We will keep the forum updated when we hear anything new that's worth posting. Let me know if you have any other questions.

As I mentioned previously, I wouldn't waste anyone's time by publishing bad news or no "new" news, but I am happy to provide progress updates when I receive them.
I spoke with DNR today and here is the latest:
The DNR / SEPA Center responses to the public comments are wrapping up. Keep in mind that even though there were only four (4) comments submitted, two of the comments covered (90) ninety separate issues. The second draft of responses should be completed early next week and they should be ready for final internal DNR review and release within (hopefully) the next two weeks. At that time we are expecting the DNR to release a "determination of non-significance". The DNR SEPA Response Coordinator has been working diligently to keep this on track and we appreciate his efforts. This completion date is well within DNR's time estimate provided in late December of 60-90 days to respond.
Our current "hoop" that DNR is working through, as quickly as humanly possible, is for the Clark County permits. The County is being very cooperative and our DNR project manager (Josh Rieppe) is completely on top of this. They have been meeting on a regular basis and are actually meeting again today along with the DNR Engineer.
We had previously expected to not have to go through the county for permitting, but with the ongoing issues at Reiter, DNR upper management (Olympia) opted for "due diligence" to avoid any unexpected surprises in the future on this project.
It is important to note that when we started this project in 2007 we were almost one (1) year behind the Reiter project. At this time, we have caught up with them and might even be nosing ahead...
Our only delay at this time is from the DNR Engineer who needs to deliver some documents to the County for them to issue our permits. He and his survey crew were out earlier this week trying to complete their surveys on the bridge sites but the snow was still VERY deep at those locations. Kudos to them - they dug through the snow to complete one of the surveys but were unable to complete the others. They will be back AS SOON AS the snow retreats enough for them to complete their work. I know we all love the snow - but an early melt this year would actually be helpful...
The DNR Engineer is hugely overloaded with work right now and we consider his efforts to get this completed as soon as possible a rare gift to the OHV community. Thank you to everyone for sticking with us through this project - we will let everyone know as soon as all of the paperwork is completed and when the work parties will begin.
Please think positive - trails coming soon, to a forest near you!
Darel & Crystal
