I'll try to make this short: 2002 dodge 2500 "cummins" with an auto transm., has been running warm especialy towing or going up long hills. I've done some research and it looks like my radiator is plugged up on the outside of it, due to a oil leak of some sort coming from the driverside middle portion of the front of the engine. This oil from the mystery leak gets sucked up into the radiator coating hot oil on the fins of the radiator and overtime dust, pollen, and other contaminants build up restricting and in some cases blocking air passages through the radiator. Inspection of the front of the radiator you could see "gunk" all over the front of the radiator probably across 50% or more of the fins on the radiator. Dodge/Chrysler have been know for using poor quality hose clamps and oil seals in the rack & pinion, the PS line were wet so I assumed that was the problem...
Taking a good look at everything today I noticed a "mystery resivour thingy" that seems to be causing all of the oily fluid deposits on everything. I need help in identifying this "mystery resivour thingy", basically what it is because I have no idea?
Its located on the middle of the engine, driverside, and have one tiny little bolt fastening it to a timing chain looking cover that said TDC on the top center of cover. When I pulled the item off the engine, I noticed it had several holes in it and it was full of some mystery fluid that was sloshing out the top of the cap and out of the holes. I couldn't determine what kind of fluid it was, but it did appear to have water or a water based fluid inside the container.
Any help identifying referenced mystery item would be helpful & I'm pretty sure its not a muffler bearing...
Thank you,
