Unless I can lose this crud I have caught somewhere by friday night I wont be there for this one. I think it would be more fun to get run over by a truck rather then have this stuff. I will keep you posted. Back to the couch!

I will be there at the work part with the Jolly Jeepers and we are suppose to meet at Rogers @ 8:30ish. I will be bringing a friend that also wants to wheel part of the time. So if you guys are going to hit some trails and the JJ's aren't... It would be nice to hook up with you. Let me know either at Rogers or let me know what CB chan you'll be on. See you there!!!

Here are my pics from Tillamook State Forest Trail Assessment and Clearing work day: 1st. Rick get the Bell from Jon. from tow episode in Yacolt Burn. Our Project Ben Smith Road. Then Archers Fire Break and Lyda Road on the way back out. These turned out to really need our help. The winter caused much fall down of trees on the roads and in the forest in general. Here are a few pictures of the work we did up there. Darel went crazy with the chainsaw. We encountered a countless number of trees that covered the roads up there. A pic of the destruction. And one of several slides that occured this winter. This one on Lyda Road. We did get to include a trail or two into the day and here is a pic of Bill with Waterfall outside the window. A nice mud hole caused Rick to Re-earn the Bell. And Jon got to try some rocks and leave a little yellow paint on the rocks. ( paint from under his truck. No damage to any body parts on any rig this day. ) And for anyone who wants to know.... Yes, There is still snow up there. Slime R did not get to make the trip. Rick drove her up onto the trailer... applied the brake,,, and rolled right back off the trailer. Our first thought is that Slime R was broken... Later we found out that Slime R was not broken... She Was PREGNANT !! The bastard child was spotted later this day by me. It seams that Yeller took some advantages of the shared shop situation and although they tried to keep the affair a secret by selling the bastard child.. It is hard to hide a Lime Green Jeep and the secret is out. It was a great day up there.. We had a good time, and got a lot done. Present today. Darel and Crystal, Rick and Kira, Bill Manbeck, Bill Meyer, Dave, and Jon.

So how was the rain? I need some pictures also. It was the weirdest thing... It didn't rain at all. It was like 75 and sunny the whole day.... ;D It started raining right after breakfast and didn't stop raining until I got home. The minute I sat down and put on dry clothes it stopped raining. Oh well. My coat is still soaking wet. I don’t think I have ever been so wet in my life! Tree's down everywhere and every which way. It was crazy! At one point coming down Lyda road it seemed like we were driving 15 feet clearing tree's and then driving another 15 feet to clear more. I guess what I am trying to say is [glow=red,2,300] It was freaking awesome![/glow] We did do a lot of work, and yep, it rained all day, but I haven't had so much fun in a long time! While the roads where a mess, the trails where clear. I don't know all the trails we ran, I was just following, but I believe we ran a good chunk Archers Firebreak (Some ran more of it than others ) Ample and alluring, a good stretch of Power line, I believe parts of University Firepower... I don’t know I am still a newb and was just following. I did play around a bit in the rock garden below waterfall though; it helped point out most of the low spots on my truck. JT wasn't with me, so I didn't get many pictures this time, but they are in color I did manage to get a small video. You'll have to forgive me, my stereo was freaking out. I think its because of the espresso maker going out. I just checked the Pistonswild photobucket and it looks like theres a ton of pictures up there! I had an absolute blast! Can't wait to go again.

Following is the report I sent to Stephanie Beall - this is our "Trail Assessment and Clearing Report". I haven't lost my sense of humor - these reports tend to be "just the facts"... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Hello Stephanie, Thank you for organizing the work days last weekend in the Tillamook State Forest. Our group, Piston’s Wild Motorsports, had a great time and we hope that our efforts were applied where needed. We brought five 4x4 vehicles and 8 volunteers for Saturday. Sorry we missed you on Sunday, but most of our group had prior commitments for that day. Total volunteer hours including driving time and reporting = 100 hours. We headed out of Roger’s Camp onto Hwy 6 (west) and dropped in on Ben Smith Road. We found approximately 25 trees either blocking or partially blocking the service road so we cleared those as best we could and placed some of the debris into the “go-arounds” that were starting to appear from vehicles going around the downed trees. Ben Smith Road took almost 3 hours to clear and then we finally made it to Archers (covering 28f, 28e, 28d & 28c). We found the trails to be in basically good condition (considering the season) but stopped to drain a few giant mud puddles in the trails. Although, please note that there were quite of few of the East facing trails signs missing (Rock Garden, Waterfall, etc…). One of our guys dropped down Waterfall – feature looks good and no problems to report. All work and no play makes for grumpy volunteers… Found one very large mud bog (I think it was towards the middle of 28d). It might be a planned trail feature, but it is getting pretty sloppy and spreading out quickly. We did not find any trees down on the trails we traveled. We left Archer’s at the end of 28c and took a peek at Can Opener (28b). Saw some Cherokees attempting it, but not having any luck completing it – this feature still maintains its double black diamond status. We also ran #26 (Ample & Alluring) and found it to be in generally good condition. We jumped on Lyda Road and followed it back to where it connects with Ben Smith Road. Again, we found lots of trees down and blocking the road. We cleared approximately 25-30 more trees that were blocking or partially blocking the road and again, threw debris into the tracks that were being created in the go-arounds. Further down Lyda Road – (pretty close to the Ben Smith Road intersection), we found a slide (I’m sure you are already aware of this). The slide area is passable via 4x4 at this time – but a standard vehicle is not going to be able to get through without getting stuck. Grabbed a quick lunch from the nice ladies at Lee’s Camp Store (great burgers!), said hello to a somewhat grumpy Tillamook County Sheriff and headed back down Hwy 6. Re-entered the forest at South Fork Road (all clear) and followed it to Stage Road (all clear) and then jumped on Powerline (4e, 4c, 4b), some standing water and picked up some garbage, but otherwise looks good. Finally out to Beaver Dam Road (all clear) and back to Roger’s Camp to end the day… If you would like to see more pictures of this Piston’s Wild TSF Workday, please go to our Photo Gallery on our website: www.pistonswild.comThere are many more road and clearing pictures... (please disregard all of the poser pics – we’re working on our website member pages)Thank you again, Stephanie, Jahmaal and Dave for all of the great work you do for motorized recreation in the Tillamook State Forest – please let us know if we can ever be of assistance. Kind regards, Crystal Crowder - on behalf of - Piston’s Wild Motorsports

Hi Guys, Thought I would give a shout out to your (soon to be my) group for a great effort on Sat. I was pretty disappointed in the efforts, or lack there of, of the group I was with. I had mentioned that ODF was in need of help with the trails and it seem to fall on deaf ears. They just wanted to run the trails and the irony was I was the only one that actually ran any. They just drove to them. Sorry, I'm on my soap box. I'm looking forward to hooking up with a group that cares and wheels
By the way, I ran Waterfall, Can Opener, Rocky Uphill and Rock Garden. Sorry... I just had to mention that. I'll shut up now!!! CYA

Following is the report I sent to Stephanie Beall - this is our "Trail Assessment and Clearing Report". I haven't lost my sense of humor - these reports tend to be "just the facts"... Very nice write up Crystal! Thanks for followind up with Stephanie. I'll have to admit that this is one of the things I would have overlooked. Its probably just as important as actually doing the work. Unfortunately without showing the work done, its often overlooked or forgotten. I am rambling now... anywa, thanks for doing this. Wyldman - yeah you gotta come out with us. Very fun bunch, and even with all the work we did, in the wet, in the cold.... it was (just like I said) freaking awesome. Doing the work was actually half the fun... at least for me!
