Well even with the uncertainty of no snow we did find a couple of feed of sun glazed crusty fun . We had a good turn out of 6 club rigs and 2 guest rigs. We met early sat morn at the shell sta and head out to the base of the forest service roads and off load the two of us that trailered up form there we headed what i believe to the 4100 rd and after a few miles we came upon a great view of Mt Rainer and St Helens, form there we continued on deeper into the hills and took a right turn on the 4250 rd and continued still wondering if there would be SNOW. Well finally after a little more time passed we found a few patches here and there which then led to more here than there. Just before we reached the local hang out known as five corner we were in good SNOW, at five corner we took out up the 3950 rd and and started the climb up heading to castle peak and hopefully the view of castle lake and a close up of St Helens. The climb was good we went form around 3300ft to over 4300ft we found Castle Lake where we took a few minutes to admire the close up view of Mt St Helens and down and the lake we were at the edge of the National Monument Boundary WHOA let me back up about 2 miles we found a wonderful spot to stop and let the 3 young kids and of coruse some big kids as well play in the snow for a sledding who gets the best run fest (there are pic's for evidence) of the good laughs we all had. Now back on track, we decided to continue on looking for a good spot out of the wind for lunch and another great view of the mountain and after a couple of more miles we found it. So now it was time for lunch Annell and whipped out the ole stove and added some heat to her great home made chilli which seamed to go over very well with all and there were even a few secound rounds from some you wouldn't would go for two bowls, it must have been really good . After some great scoializing and a few great pictures we started our way back out and with a possible detour for change of pace into some untouched snow we came to a point where the road ended and had to turn around at which "the kid" made a good attempt at getting stuck, but being the jeepers that we are we couldn't leave him to his own demize so we go him moving under his control and back up the hill we went. So now back onto the main trail we played a little follow the leader on some little side treks with "the dude" trying to lead "the kid" off into some more possible compromizes. After passing a few of the locals heading out for there evening activities? ?? we made our way back to our trailers and desided to go grab some food before calling it a GREAT day with good friends in GREAT environment... Those who have pictures please post'em up.

I met up with Isaac at his place around 0630 Saturday morning. Then we headed out from there with one pit stop for fuel and food in Castle Rock. From Castle Rock we headed east to Toutle and met up with everyone else. The sun rising over Silver Lake Hitting dirt Everyone airing down and offloading their rigs. Doug and Betty Lou getting pumped up for the day! After breaking Doug and Betty Lou up Tommy held a quick drivers meeting and then off we went. The views were awesome! We stopped a few times for some photo opts. Everyone out getting a look At this point we had gone aways up in elevation and there still wasnt any signs of snow. I was starting to think that it was going to be another gravel road trip like the hangover run was. Fortunately for us I was wrong. It did take a couple more miles but we did finally get to snow. And when we did get to it there was more then Ive seen all winter. Once in the snow we stopped a couple more times for more photo opts and so the kids "young and old" could play in the snow. Moving again. Beautiful day!

Hi Annell!!! The Watsons making it look easy all day After our detour and trying to get people detained we kept on going out the way that we had came in. It wasnt long and we were back onto the dusty gravel roads that we had followed in in the morning More gravel, more dust Once back at the trailers we did all the post trail routine, air up/load up. Most of us went and had dinner in Woodland at Casa Tapatia while the rest headed on home for the evening.
