Okay, so I've done everything I could think of doing to get this to work, but nothing even moves the oil pressure gauge in the dash... * this is the stock oil pressure gauge that shows an analog readout of a digital signal.
So. I started off with the wrong oil pressure sensor from toyota. They gave me the 'new' version, and it turns out that it was the dummy light sensor.
So I took that back, and got the stock OEM sensor. same part #, same look.
New pigtail, and verified voltage while on = 11.88v
plugged it in, and nothing. not even a sliver of movement from the in-dash gauge.
so, I verified continuity from the negative terminal on my battery to the threads of the sensor while installed: positive continuity.
verified voltage again. fine..
So I thought it was the sensor.
I returned to Toyota, haggled with the parts manager for a minute, and finally convinced them to let me one-for-one swap. (Pain in the...)
installed new sensor, and still nothing.
So... again verified voltage, ground and continuity. All good...
The only thing I can think of is that the very first time I saw the gauge move was on the first start with the WRONG sensor. The gauge went to high, then back to zero, and won't move again unless I ground the sensor plug while the vehicle is on.
Please help. anything. is there a fuse that might have blown that I don't know about?
Thank you!

I've deduced that it's not the sending unit at all.. it tests within spec for resistance while engine is running, so I think that the dummy light sensor may have blown the gauge in the dash cluster... so... I get to take the dash apart and replace that as soon as I find a donor...
Thanks so much!

Hunt the salvage yards. Might find one from a v6 truck to work but not sure.
