On Saturday July 25th the Pacific Trail Riders Club (PTRC) will be hosting a work party at the Nicolai Mountain OHV Area. This trail system is in the Clatsop State Forest just south of Hwy 30 about 20 miles east of Astoria. The trail system has been around for around 5 years with class I and III trails. In the last year they just started building class II trails (class II is 4x4's). The state wants existing trails brushed back and there is a lot of garbage in the knob point pit. The work party starts at 8am. Fire restrictions are in place. If you go make sure you have water, a fire extinguisher, and shovel in your vehicle. The PTRC have a waiver so they can operate power equipment duruing level 2 fire restrictions. Then they will have to do a fire watch when done working.
So Im going to walk out my door at 0530 that morning and head up.
If you want to join me... A. You can meet me at my place and ride B. You can meet me at my place and Caravan C. We can all meet up on I-5 at the exit that the person that lives the farthest north is coming from and then caravan D. We can meet at Nicolai
I dont know what will be provided as far as tools go. It sounds like loppers and gloves would be a good thing to have. Its another clubs work party so Im planning on being a grunt and picking up trash more then anything. But ill have some loppers with me just in-case we need them.
