Jon's winch rebuild link goes to a very detailed set of instructions.
I plan to use infor from all three postings when I do my winch. The first two postings are a more simple set of instructions and may clarify the more detailed third posting.

no,, mine does not free spool. only power in power out.
and it needs to be resealed.. and since it needs to be resealed it probably needs the mud from saint helens mud bog cleaned out because it went under at least three times that day.

If you need parts i went through central 4x4. Warn used to either give you the little things or bill you and put them in the mail. Now they want a dist. I went and had mine powdercoated while it was apart(thanks to mr.powdercoat)
