We will need to wait for the SEPA review to be finalized sometime in November.
After SEPA is finalized, with winter weather setting in, we will likely have to wait until spring of 2010 to start working on the trails.
I will update here as soon as I have additional infomation.

That is the State Environmental Protection Agency review. This agency reviews the proposed trails and facilities plans and makes comments and/or suggestions that will best protect the forest resources.
The planning committee dedicated itself to ensuring that all of the SEPA requirements were considered in preparing the proposal.
We expect minimal concerns from this review.

Hey we are interested in being able to go a view the proposed trail system. We have multiple members who work for a large heavy machinery company and have access to the equipment. We are a smaller group that would be interested in adopting a trail, we are more on the hardcore side and would love to be involved in something that others like us would enjoy, plus it is our backyard for some. If there is any information on how we can get a tour of what will be made accessible and what will be allowed to be modified for wheelin then once there is a go-ahead then we could have a jump start on helping to get this open.

At this time SEPA has still not been completed - expected completion is sometime in late February or early March - this is, of course, later than originally estimated, but the delay is just part of working with a government agency. Actual trail building is still right on schedule and will likely begin sometime in April depending on weather conditions. More info to follow later... Due to the tremendous amount of interest in the design and implementation of this trail system, we can likely expect that those organized groups and individuals who have been most involved in the entire process over the past 3 years will be the first to be invited to design, build, adopt and maintain sections of the trail system. What that means, is those groups and individuals who have consistently stepped forward to help at the clean-up events and fund-raising events or provided resources, materials or funding to further the effort as a whole will get to have the most input and the highest level of involvement. These are the groups and individuals who have consistently proven their dedication to the stewardship of the Yacolt Burn and will most likely be recognized by the Department of Natural Resources as viable partners to work with on this project. Participant information for ALL of the events over the past three years has been meticulously gathered and invitations will be extended to those previously involved as trail building gets underway. Those groups and individuals who have been consistently absent from the efforts to acquire this trail system will likely be allowed a more moderate level of input. My advice at this time for the groups and individuals who have not been involved to date is to start attending the scheduled work parties in the Yacolt Burn and get yourselves or your groups integrated with the DNR representatives as well as with the two motorized groups who have worked so hard to make this happen - those groups being -- Piston's Wild Motorsports and the Jones Creek Trail Riders Association. www.pistonswild.comwww.jctra.orgPlease note that EVERY effort is being made to create a challenging, sustainable trail system that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment for all levels of off-road recreation - from beginners to "hard core". ever since i found out about this project from jessica kimmick in november i attended the november meeting but i missed the january meeting. i check this forum everyday for info on work parties and such events.i plan on attending the febuary meeting. the reason i was asking about naming the trails is i had me best friend pass away va few years back named Bob Leach. if he was still around i know he would be involved in any way he could.

The Leach name has great history in this area, in botanical circles. Perhaps that can give you a tie-in. I'm certain that your help and interest in thesem and other, trails will not go un-noticed. I, too, am new to theis club and I know that they value everything I do greatly. Your contributions will be noted.

ive stated this before in an earlier post in this thread about full size compatible trails. the more i read crystals response and the more i feel i need to say something. i stated dont forget about fullsize rigs and she said the trails will be for every skill level. ive been to the meetings, ive been on a run and the feeling i get is that these trails are not going to be fullsize friendly. ive been told that the general idea and format of this system is somewhat similar to browns camp. which in my understanding of what ive been told is not fullsize friendly. the trails we went on with wyldman,s run were alot of fun for me but if i still had the burban would not have been able to run. if i go to a smaller rig just to go wheeling then my family will have to stay home. that is not going to happen. if i ruffled some feathers so be it im just voicing my feelings on what ive seen and heard. i do want to make it clear that no one has said outright that the trail system will not be fullsize friendly. i just get that feeling from listening at the meetings and reading this forum.

I think you will have to define specifically whats "trail friendly". generally there are width restrictions for trails that are dictated by the governing body I.E. DNR, Forest Service, or BLM. If your looking for a path that you don't have to worry about scratches or dents due to encroaching rocks, trees, or brush I would find that very unlikely.

i realize that scratches and such do happen but there is a difference between a jeep trail and a fullsize friendly trail. the trails we went on at browns camp were no way fullsize friendly. they were to tight with turns and narrow passages thru trees. thats my point. i dont mind rocks and trees and hill climbs. but i cant follow a wrangler around on small tight trails in a lifted burban or fullsize PU. ive been warmly welcomed into this club only to feel alienated because of what i choose or need to have as a wheeler. i have no problem getting scratches or dents or whatever but im not going to go to an area where my rig is to big to fit on a trail. thats why i never went to browns camp before. im not going to intentionally beat up my rig by trying to drive a trail that to small for my rig. all im asking is a few trails wide enough to fit a fullsize. i have friends that have fullsize burbans,broncos,blazers and PUs. it would be nice to have a place to play. i would love to see rocks and log crossings and such obstacles. ive said my peace and pledge my assistance to the cause of greater good.

If I offended you that was not my intention. I was just saying that the dimension of a trail are restricted to certain sizes and by you letting the people responsible know how wide or sharp a turn can be helps " like whats your turning radius or how wide is wide enough". If the people responsible for routing new trails have these numbers it may help to make a trail more suitable for full size rigs if they can get the go ahead from the governing agencies. As they say we need hard numbers. I'm all for full size trails, I have two full size trucks but I don't want to wrinkle the quarters either.

Windturbine I have wheeled at browns camp and been in groups with trail capable Cherokees that do every trail that the wranglers do without dents.A Cherokee is a great family rig.If you make the trails big enough for a suburban than in no time thats the only size rig that can use them.The trucks of that size with the tires they put on them do a huge amout of damage.Mind you I not saying that at some point a play area for those trucks could not be built.To build and maintain a trail that would stay useable and not fall apart under rigs of that size would be very expensive. With the limited funding available at this time we are going to be lucky to get anything. Just my two cents
