Well here's my two dimes. Fivendime was talking about my dads Rubicon lift. I have the same thing on mine but the only thing I don't like about it is it always makes allot of noise even on the street. But its a great lift for a short arm it does flex really well. I was looking at an iron rock lift for the Cherokee before I found this one on Craigslist. That lift seems to be pretty good as far as reviews go and its cheep. I think there long arm kit is something like $1500, and its a really complete kit. This same kit from Rubicon is somthing like $2600. So if your looking at buying a kit look at those. Other than that I would do what everyone has been saying body armor (ie: bumpers, ROCKSLIDERS, winch) that would get you a pretty good platform to work with then start thinking were you want to go next (lockers, onboard air, bigger axles.....) good luck with your build and let me know if you need help I have built 4 Cherokees so far wouldn't hurt to build another.

Not sure how the XJ guys do it, but the Wranglers are VERY easy to make your own body armor for. I consider rocker protection a great investment because fixing the body damage after nerfing off a rock is way more expensive than the cost of the sliders!
BTW: Did my greasy old tie rod work?
