Our buddy blew a valve on his Bronco, so he needs a shop that does good work for a decent price...one in Vancouver would be ideal.

Blew a valve? Meaning he broke a valve like broke the head off or what? What motor is it?
What year of bronco ect. Does he want to go through the whole motor or just fix the valve that broke and put it back together?

I like the people out at Hockinson Auto, but I bet they would farm out a head. How much of the work is he going to do, or does he just want to drop it off?

This is what Ryan said: 85 Ford Bronco with a German v6 2.8 , sucked valve. The whole valve came out and is resting on top of the piston. He needs a complete rebuild of both heads he will bring in the heads. He can handle the rest himself.

Is that the full size Bronco? I am assuming it is the little bronco II correct? I know Shortbus and hootie both have experience with the bronco II's. I think if I remember the count they had 4 a piece at one time. I dont really know too much about the repair shops up that way but I am sure someone will chime in.
I know Dan's cylinder heads is who used to do our nascar modified and sprint car heads. He is down on something like 102nd-105th south of sandy blvd. He is in the Phone book.
Others have had good luck with Archie Somers In Battleground but I dont know price wise what he would be just because he mainly builds race engines.
Or try Tom @ T Mac performance he is out in Troutdale and also in the book.
That is about the extent of my knowledge.

I have had Tabors do a motor for me, Somers do some as well, and C's Machine do my willys truck motor.
I would have no problem taking stuff to either of the three. I would say though that C's machine will probably know more about the Ford stuff out of the three for sure. His name is Jim, awesome guy and very helpful. He is next door to I-5 Driveline in Hazel Dell. He is really busy too which tells you something.

generally when a valve breaks and falls into the combution chamber when an engine is running it rattles around a bit usually wasting the piston, head and cylinder wall.
it will then usually bust a hole in the top of the piston causing ventilation.

tell him not to wast the money on rebiulding those heads it would cost more than they are worth.the german heads that come on those are junk and not worth it. but find the after market head that will last alot longer for just a few more bucks. he can search online as i and Hootie have done in the past he can get good heads for 200 that wont crack or drop a valve. tell him to look on "TheRangerStation.com"sould get alot of help on there.
