hey guys i some information/advice about ford ranger axles. im looking at a ranger my neighbor has for sale. i believe it is an 86. what options are there as far as upgrades are there? what max tire size can i run with the stock axles? any advice/info will be greatly appreciated. i want to take this truck in the snow, browns camp, etc.

Not sure about the year of ranger and the axle model but I think it should be a non disk 8.8 with maybe a limited slip or no limited slip. I have been looking for one of those axles for my Cherokee. I think they can safely handle 35" tires in stock form if memory serves. 33's are no problem at all for them. Not sure about the front ends though?

x2 on the ranger station but that year was a 7.5 the 8.8 didnt come out till later same as in my bronco but i run 31s on the one that has the 7.5 and the one we put the exploer axles (8.8) i run 33s but they can take 35s with out any problem.

The front axle should be a dana 28 which i wouldnt run anything bigger than 31s. but you can swap in a dana 35 out of newer rangers really easy. and like shortbus said the rear is a 7.5 and those to me are just as weak as the front. but with a 8.8 your good to 35s with a full spool.
