Following is an e-mail message I received today from Jessica Kimmick regarding the upcoming DNR - ATV trail work parties scheduled for March 20th, 2010 and April 10th, 2010 (both Saturdays). These were also presented at last night's meeting.
I am hoping to have Piston's Wild Motorsports co-host one or both of these events, but I first need to determine if the membership, applicants and guests are willing and able to contribute to these events.
Jones Creek Trail Riders, Dirt Church ATV and Cougar Area Trail Seekers have also been invited to co-host.
Please reply to the poll above ASAP so that I might be able to respond to DNR's request in a timely manner...

Hi ORV enthusiasts-
Hope you are doing well today! The DNR is putting together a couple of upcoming volunteer work parties for the Jones Creek ORV trail system in the Yacolt Burn. The dates are March 20 and April 10, both Saturdays. They are both targeted to be large events, but the April 10th is to prepare for the spring opening date on May 1 and will have a volunteer appreciation bbq afterwards.
Please see below for the proposed work plans Josh put together. I am hoping that all 4 of your clubs would like to be listed as co-sponsors for these events. This would entail including your club logo on the fliers, use of available equipment, participation from club members at both events, and on April 10 some assistance with pitching in on the lunch (we can handle the bbq foods, if your club would step up with, or secure a donation for, some other treat).
We need to keep our volunteer hours for our current M&O grants up while we start the implementation process, so that we can continue to secure funding to care for what exists and what will exist.
Anyone have any questions, thoughts, ideas or comments? Please feel free to contact me and let me know what you think.
Thanks for your consideration and have a great day!
Sincerely,
Jessica Kimmick

March 20th- Repair section of trail on the C-loop below the Happy Dance Timber sale. This will be done along the new fenced section of the trail. This is to repair a 100ft section that has become extremely rocky and rutted. Work will be done to regrade trail, fill in trail with 3 inch rock and cap with dirt and 1 inch rock. Possibly place block over section if determined to not be stable enough to last. If there is enough people/time also repair a few other minor sections of trail in this area. If we had enough people and time, also install a pipe across trail inside the happy dance timber sale area.
Equipment needed: 2 excavators, 6x6’s, buckets, rakes and shovels.
Target volunteer hrs- 250
April 10th – Clean up for the opening date. Install signs at needed intersections- wooden and carsonite. Paint outhouse. Clear downed trees, drain water puddles. Cut back brush that appears to end up enclosing trail. Also possibly touch up A- loop trail section inside Remington Steele sale since this will end up being the most heavily used this summer with the rest of Remington Steele sale covering the B/C access.
Equipment needed- everything.
BBQ lunch event afterwards.
Target volunteer hrs- 300
