Well the suspension is going to be ifs. So there is the first down fall if he wants to wheel it. Second the 22re is a better motor I think until they get to the KA motors. You will buy a new truck before you kill a 22r. The good things about the Nissan's (at least this why I own one) is that not everyone has one. If I go to BC I will see at least 5 toys but I think ive only seen one Nissan. If your looking at extended cabs the Nissan's have more room. I also like the interior in them you don't sit on the FLOOR like you do in the Toyota's. There's my two cents.

Just more hunting with space in cab and trunk bed. What can you tell me about the motor? Rear end?

I don't know much about the rear ends ive heard that the hb233 or it might be the hb332 I don't know but its the one that they sell lockers for but I'm changing mine for a dana 44 to match the front when I do my sas. The motor I think is a z24. There are two models of this motor one has 8 spark plugs 4 on the intake side and 4 on the exhaust side. This was done to try to improve emissions. The other is just a normal 4cyl (not to common) I don't like either only because they have a stupid computer controlled Carb that's a pain to work on. I had two of these motors and both of them were not worth the oil I had to put in them. I do really like my ka and they have been great motors to me and most of my friends we really like them. Mine is a 93 that's what I would look for i got my truck for $300 but it was a steel.

As I dont know much about the drive train in these years I do know a little about the motors. I drove one of the ones with 8 plugs when I was in college. Its called the Napz motor said as Nap Z. Gutless wonder, but was reliable as all heck. The bottom ends are stout but the top ends suck. I have a Napz/L20 hybrid in my Datsun pickup. This is a sweet option to have because it allowed you bore the motor 180 out and still keep cool and still have the strength, you just have to weld and mill some stuff on the timing chain cover to make them go together. Makes a fast little motor. They just have very thick jackets. You could only do this on the early model truck motors though. Datsun I know has always had fairly good drive train in the older years, but the newer ones is a question for me as well. I know this probably didn't help but maybe ;D.

I have a couple of friends that have them, together on 3 truck almost a million miles. I know of another guy that has had several, including some he has pieced together. They were also available with the SD22 diesel, one of the trucks has that with a homemade WVO conversion, he gets over 35 mpg. They are great trucks, just without the aftermarket of the Toyotas. We had them both where I used to work, I personally liked the layout and feel of the 1st and 2nd Gen Toys better, but it was just a personal feeling thing. The Nissan's in the fleet got slightly better fuel mileage.
