I was thinking about heading over to Trout Lake for lunch via Yacolt. Any takers? We have Monday off and wanted to go for a ride int he Jeep. Can't miss lunch at KJ's in Trout Lake. Leave in the AM hours. Not at 6PM. Could be fun.

I may be in for this one. Whats the route you are planning on taking? I think a chunk of the forest roads across may be closed for snowmobiling, cross country skiing etc (Goose lake Peterson Prairie etc).

Only if it has snow on it. Right. I think.

Thats not how I understand it... probably best to check with the Forest Service but I believe the closures are determined by the time frame... not the weather. For instance a road closed to Jeeps November 1st through March 1st is still open in April, even if it is covered in 12 feet of snow.

I was under the impression that the FR roads back to Goose Lake are closed until April 1st each year... But it is located in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, so a quick call to GPNF Headquarters could probably get you a difinitive answer.

I would agree with flip.flop... the dates I used in my earlier post are just random dates I pulled out of thin air to use an example. The bottom line is that road closures in the forest are done based on the calendar..... not the weather or condition of said road (landslides, construction, etc excluded of course).

Sounds like it would be more fun to go play in the snow with the quads somewhere. *hint, hint*
