Hi All, Had another wonderful time with a great group of wheelers wish you were there .... 3-7-10 TSF 4x4 Wheeling Run On this run the 4x4 fun seekers of the day were Jon in his TJ , Tonka in his Wrangler, Scrambledbill in his Scrambler , No Whiners Wayne and w0w in the 83 Scrambler. All locked and ready for fun responsible wheelin mmmm mmmmmm We had such a GREAT time 1 week ago on a “spur-of-the-moment” run up above Estacata to Lost/Clear Lake and beyond we couldn’t help but say lets do it again this weekend... so up we went ..... 4 of us Jon, Scrambledbill, No Whiners Wayne and me (w0w) met at the Chevron Station at I-5 and 99th St. in Vancouver to fill up before heading up to Colemans for breakfast. I was very surprised as we were caravanning down Hwy 26 that out of nowhere Tonka in his nicely built Wrangler magically appeared between Jon and myself. (By the way Tonka; how did you do that? Please tell us….. After a tasty breakfast we all headed up to Browns Camp in TSF. . We were met with cooler than we all expected with some sun and somewhat overcast weather as we got out out to air down. We were very pleasantly surprised at how few 4wheelers were up there. May have been partly due to one of the largest swap meets in the known universe that was taking place over the weekend in Puyallup WA. Or Sweet Home’s Mudfest 2010. I hate to do this but I will have to post pictures along with the rest of the days activities alittle later as my family comes 1st and they want to watch a DVD.. ;D thx all w

TRIP REPORT Cont..... Hey Tonka you never told us how you magically appeared between Jon and myself… Inquiring minds want to know..lol I think the route we took was similar to the Club run last month on my B-Day when I met a number of ya’ll. As we headed out towards Firebreak 5. We were pleasantly surprised by how the road was a perfect mixture of just enough moisture to keep the dust non-existant but not wet enough to be throwing mud on the rigs to muddy up the windows. NICE… Scrambledbill headed up 1st followed by w0w as we headed up FB-5. The trail was muddier than one would expect considering how nice the fire roads were. Jon made it look easy as he had no problem moving right on up. Good driving bro nice followed by Tonka taking alittle more difficult line…. also making it look way easier than one would expect…. another on his way up with alittle skinny pedal getting the 2.5 popper a poppin ;D after playing alittle we took a short break and as you can see the ground was a bit wetter than what you would expect after a few days of now rain… I'm off to dinner be back shortly w

After taking the short break…… We headed up the second leg of FB-5 towards the Rock Garden… Scrambledbill makin it look easy (as I have come to is his habit followed by w0w and No Whiners Wayne with Jon and Tonka following…. as we got to the top of the 2nd leg of FB-5 just before the Rock Garden there are 2 “poser” rocks. One on the left and the bigger one the right. Many of you know the ones I am talking about. I have a understanding question on “dos and don’ts” . Is it ok to pose on those rocks for pictures or is that in “bad taste” ? Thank you for helping educate all of us.. We then continued up to the Rock Garden for a few poser pictures before a few of us tried the skills at navigating the Garden . then No Whiners Wayne on z2w 1st up after w0w parked to take pictures was Tonka .. He moved through about 1/3 of the Garden with not much trouble. with a nice shot of him just before he departed to let Scrambledbill take his turn… We were all impressed with how Scrambledbill maneuvered through about ½ of the Garden making some of those difficult lines look a lot easier than they are… believe me… it must have been help from the spotter..lol gotta go .... next installment .. The broken front drive shaft and Tonka goes right on up Can-0pener.....

Hey Jeff,
It was very nice to meet you at the meeting last night. Great run report and super pics - keep em coming...
FYI - Poser rocks and stumps are fine along the trails and trailheads - we all have these kind of pics, but standing poser trees would be bad.
I look forward to an opportunity to go wheeling with you some time.
Crystal

Ya! where are the rest dont leave us hanging. I might tell ya how I showed up on the freeway when we get the rest of the story. Ha Ha It has not been my intention to "leave anyone hanging"... as you know my week has been full with being "mr. mom" with my teenagers and helping my 15 yr old daughter getting ready for her 1st Tolo Dance. (In my day in used to be called the Sadie Hawkins Dance.) ;D My hottie, sweetheart, girlfriend and wife were out of town on tour with her band. (Oh, btw shes all the same person:-) I will try to get the rest of the pics up tonite or tomorrow because inquiring minds want to know how you all of a sudden became visible in the middle of us driving out the 26 towards TSF.

Here we are just exiting the top of the 2nd leg of FB-5 just before the Rock Garden. Jon with No Whiners Wayne along with z2w on the “poser” rocks. While exiting the Rock Garden w0w hit his front d60 u-join strap at the pumpkin and BANG it broke off, with the forward end of the driveshaft dropping to the rocks. Tonka faster than lighting yelled DON’T MOVE… DON’T MOVE !!!!! so guess what?? I didn’t move and shut my rig off. GREAT call bro!!!! The caps on the u-joint were not damaged and the caps stayed on… Thank you Jesus!! We took a few minutes and searched our spare parts but only had d44 straps and smaller. 2 minutes later Tonka says “hey w0w, your tow rig is a F350 4x4. Your front end will have the straps that will fit” That was a great call!! 1 minute later Scrambledbill and I were headed back to the parking area where in 3 minutes I had the strap off and we were headed back to the Rock Garden. We got back and the guys had z2w ready to put the strap in and 5 minutes later we were ready to get back on the trail. Heres a picture of the snapped strap along with the new one I purchased just under it. The one on the right is the one I had scavenged from my tow rig. Look at the difference in size….. interesting….. A picture of the nuts… hard to tell how chewed up they are….

After the Rock Garden we headed over to Saddle-Up. Scrambledbill went up without any issues making it look easier than a few weeks ago when we were all up there. We did come to find out that the top had been dug out a lot more but we didn’t know that until we tried to do it. Jon looks impressive coming all the way up to the almost the top….. before having to work at it a bit. w0w came up taking a line to the left…. … after coming up he backed down and took the line to the right then it is Tonka’s turn to show us how it is done…. We all love the way Tonka "goes for it" we like his style ;D Nothing like skills of alittle skinny pedal and some Showmanship coming together hehehehe And thee “SHOT OF THE DAY” by Jon What you cannot see in the picture but needs to be described by Jon and then Tonka is how Jon was scrambling for his life to get out of the way as Tonka launched off that rock and root ball… but Jon got the shot in the midst of those distractions… Your incredible dude!!!!

One additional note the story. I wish you all could have seen the look on Tonka's face and heard the resulting sucking sound that emanated form his jeep when he launched up the stump. But with us all scrambling for cover as the "MIGHTY" little 4 popper was up on the rev limiter, it will have to remain in memory to be shared around the camp fire. Great day wheelin guys. Thanks
