dang it. she failed the DEQ today. my HCs were a fuzz over the limit. anyone have any advice on lowering them? i dont need very much. everything else passed with very good results.

I would run some seafoam in the intake and gas to see if you can clean things out a bit. That stuff works well. Put half into the tank and put half directly into the intake via a vacuum hose....preferably a large one like the brake booster hose. Pour it in slowly till the motor starts stumbling then put the last bit in quickly to stall the motor. Then let it sit like the can says. It will smoke like crazy so be prepared to kill some bugs.
Another thing we were told by our mechanic is run the piss out of the thing....get her good and hot then bring it in, you want that catalytic converter heated up real good to burn particulates off.

Definately get it hot, don't shut it off until they are ready for you. Little things like oil change, plugs, wires, cap, rotor all add up to help w/DEQ passing. Also, a new O2 sensor won't hurt if it's original and you are over 100k miles. I agree w/the Seafoam thing too. Works great.
