Tested out my new dash cam set up. Nothing exciting, just a drive through the neighborhood during lunch. I gotta figure out how to tweak the brightness. [pistol pete voice] I can't see %^&*!!![/pistol pete voice] While I could see perfectly, the video came out a bit bright I am using my cell phone to provide internet access while mobile, and while I can surf and IM, it's not fast enough to stream the live web camera. I'll keep playing with it, but I think that I am probably not going to be able to do that until I step up to faster mobile internet (either a true 3G phone, air card, or clear). Now I need to come up with a mounting idea. I am going to run this all off of a tablet PC running windows 7. Windows 7 seems to run really stable compared to Vista, very snappy. Its still in beta though so I do run into driver issues from time to time. So far though (knock on virtual wood), I haven't ran into anything that I haven't been able to make work. I will be able to load up video (TV shows, Movies etc) and music from my media center on to my Tablet, and then use the tablet for tunes, passenger entertainment, navigation via GPS (shared from my current GPS), internet access (from my cell phone), on board video, extra photo storage (if I happen to fill up my memory cards just copy them to the HD). All of this is removable, and quickly stowed. Right now its a bit of a cable mess. I need to get a dedicated AC Adapter (running off my inverter) for the car and create a wiring harness for the web cam, cell phone and GPS cables that plug into the PC. For mounting, I am going to use something like this... www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3714927&csid=_25&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=X3Th4gZi_iQ-gQhZxD0lIETT1MPrZ08r5wand then mount it something like this. Once I get the mounting figured out and dedicated car charger I'll make the cabling more permanent. For now its a mess of cables in the passengers lap ;D BTW, I might have a small tendency to be a small bit of a geek. Just saying.... maybe... a little bit geakish. Just a little...

Well I think we have found our technology guy for all the movie making ect. That is a cool set up. I think you have your own office in there all you need now is an espresso machine and some scones and you will be all set. Nice job.

Lance...I think he had to take the espresso machine out to install the rest of the "geekish" stuff. Looks pretty cool Jon! Can't wait to see how you managed to get everything in there.

I think I need to clarify... The pics of the install mount is what I want to do... now what I have done :-)
My truck is way to dirty for that to be inside pics of my truck. You can't even see any burger king wrappers or dog hair! :-)
For now, everything is duck taped and strewn all over the place. Eventually though once I get a mount I'll make things more permanent and more out of the way.

My install is not as pretty as the one I above, but it works pretty dang well! I think I can use it as a recovery point ;D I took the mount off the arm and covered it and the bottom of my tablet with velcro, took it inside, held it over my bed and shook it as hard as I could. I'm amazed how well it holds. Its actually a bit of a pain to detach from the mount. Its nice though, all the stuff I need, and all of it is removable / easily stowed away out of sight. Now I just got to work on the cabling nightmare I have. My dash is pretty cluttered with cables right now. It will probably be that way for awhile... ;D

If you happen to roll over and your seat belt fails you...all those damn wires will keep you safely inside the vehicle!!! lol But your coffee might spill and burn you!!! Looks like you need some zip ties and gorilla tape! That will fix all your problems. Way cool Jon!!!
