Wow I know exactly where that happened. I used drive right through selma passing that fire station every week for a couple years. What a scary deal. Just goes to show you dont have a clue what people are going to do. All I can say is be careful, be aware and its always easier to walk away. I have more feelings about the subject but I will keep it to this in order to not violate the G or PG rating.

Thats truly a sad story, though we are only getting one side of the story here I venture to say that the man who shot the gun was seriously wrong and at fault. I have taken classes regarding when you can and cant shoot. You cant shoot because you are threatened. I do know that the a mining claim is only the mineral rights. You can put a gate up and post no trespassing signs and do maintenance to the property as well as build a shack or place to stay, but you do NOT have the rights to the property. So if someone want to come on your claim, too bad even though you have posted no trespassing. Its just good to stay off these properties in general. We have a local claim with a gate up by Copper Creek in Yacolt. Not a big fan of the Beer in one had while arguing with the crazy with the gun. Shouldn't be drinking on the trail, so maybe he was a little loud when talking to the older man? Who knows, still not justified in most circumstances.
