Piston’s Wild Motorsports
Yacolt Burn 4x4 Trails
Pre-Season Work Party
April 30th, 2016 - Saturday
Please join Piston’s Wild Motorsports for a great day in the Yacolt Burn for pre-season maintenance on the new 4x4 trails.
Attendees will also get a sneak peek at the location of the next new 4x4 trail that will be under construction this summer.
Please support your sport – the trails need you…
Time: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Where: Meet at Mt. View Trailhead (Intersection of 1500 & 1520 Roads)
Map: file.dnr.wa.gov/publications/amp_yacolt_burn_mototrail_map_20150810.pdf
Piston's Wild Motorsports will provide lunch and water for all volunteers.
What do volunteers need to bring? Gloves, work boots, long pants, long sleeves – dress in layers appropriate for weather.
We will be working on all three 4x4 trails including Mt. View Trail, Hagen Creek Trail and Deer Pen Trail - there is quite a bit of work to be done and we could use as much help as possible.
We will be replacing signage that has been damaged by vandals, performing maintenance on water bars to control run-off, closing unauthorized bypassses, picking up garbage and cleaning up illegal fire pits.
We will also be performing maintenance on some of the ruts created in the Mt. View trail due to illegal wheeling that continued through the winter when the trails were officially CLOSED...
We are unable to begin building new 4x4 trails in the Yacolt Burn until the existing trails have been brought up to standards for the season - the more we get completed on this work day, the sooner we can begin new construction.
This work party will be open to the public and hours worked will count toward volunteer hours to receive a free Discover Pass.
Please contact Crystal Crowder if you have any questions about the work party.

SUPPORTING FUNDS FOR WORK PARTY MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES ARE BEING PROVIDED BY RCO MAINTENANCE GRANT #14-1806M
This 2-year grant was awarded in 2015 to the Pacific Cascade Region of the Washington Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $150,000 + DNR Matching Funds of $64,500.
This brings the total of this maintenance grant to $214,500 to support the maintenance and operations for all of the motorized trails on DNR land in SW Washington.
This grant includes trails in the Yacolt Burn State Forest (4x4, ATV, Dirtbike), located east of Vancouver, Washington, and Elochoman Landscape (ATV & Dirtbike only) located west of Longview, WA
RCO grants are funded by your OHV fuel tax dollars and OHV permit dollars - hours worked by volunteers contribute to DNR's eligibility to continue to receive these grants in the future.
Specific details about the grant can be viewed here: secure.rco.wa.gov/prism/search/ProjectSnapshot.aspx?ProjectNumber=14-1806
