With all the talk of snow wheeling, turkey eating, and x-mas tree hunting, its hard to remember that this weekend, the magic in the desert of Baja begins. It's time for the 2009 Score Tecate Baja 1000!

I wish I was in Ensenada today.... watching the festivities at contingency, eating fish taco's, collecting "steekers", and listening to the sounds of trophy trucks, or maybe just hanging out with these guys.
But alas I am not, I am here in the NW, dreaming of Baja.....
Whats a gringo to do to get his Baja 1000 fix?
Arggg Matey, Watch Pirate 4x4's Baja coverage! Pirate has some of the best coverage for those who can't make it, and this years should be even better. They beefed up the Pirate 4x4 chase truck (They went with a Dodge Wyldman), including strapping a giant 4 foot dish on the roof for Internet anywhere.
It pretty much gets it! ;D
The race coverage should be good! It wont be as epic as being there, but for those who work from home, or just happen to sit near the computer to much it will be the next best thing to being there. The coverage can be found here. (This is a heavily moderated section and should be family friendly / work safe).

They will have a live tracker up for the races, and updates (photo's and video's) as close to live as latency and internet connections will allow. I am sure there will be a simulcast of the weatherman feed as well, as soon as I find it I'll post it up here also.
I would like to take this moment and apologize right now for the negative amount of work I will get done the next couple days... It's Baja man!!! ;D Work will be there on Monday, but tomorrow the I must dream! Someday I'll be there..... some day.
*** Edit*** If you've never watched Dust to Glory you are really missing out. The above edited clips are good, but the full length (hour 30 or so) is well worth it. I';ve watched it with people who could care less about wheeling or racing and even they enjoyed it. Good documentary describing the drama and magic of the Baja 1000.
