Hi everyone,
I just wanted to apologize to anyone who was tracking this activity for more details. I dropped the ball and was justly punished * * *(see below)
The weather forecast was not looking good for this recovery to actually be a succes - so I just grabbed a couple of folks and made a brief attempt on Sunday morning.
As expected, the area where this recovery was to take place - the road was a solid sheet of ICE! It was very cold, very windy and the snow was blowing sideways. While not impossible to continue with the recovery, our trail boss, Darel, decided to postpone this recovery until weather improves purely for safety reasons.
* * * I guess my punishment was delivered as we were trying to crawl the vehicles back down the icy slope. I was walking down when my feet slipped out from under me in cartoon fashion and I landed flat on my ass. Would not have been so bad had I not been shouting to Hootie to put a tire in the ditch for control - my tongue must have been waggin' because I bit it hard enought to spit blood for the next hour...
We aborted this recovery attempt and some of the guys went to the NWDRA swap meet at the fairgrounds instead and I went home to catch Daytona, eat some ibuprofen and take a nap...
Thanks to Hootie and Shortbus for dragging your asses out of bed after partying all night for Hootie's birthday, and thanks to "the Bills" (Hutchens and Manbeck) for bringing the winches. Your efforts, as always, are greatly appreciated.
For those of you who missed this one - there will many more of these activities in the coming year and I promise to keep everyone on this forum well advised of any and all future Yacolt Burn events and activities.
