I thought I'd cross post this over here.
A few of us from NAXJA will be putting on a beginner friendly event (Noobfest) at TSF on the 8th. Basically it will be a light day of wheeling, maybe a recovery demo or two, demonstrations in spotting/line picking, etc. Our goal will be to cover the basics and have a fun easy day on the trails.
Anyone is welcome to join us. Whether your looking for an easy day on the trails, or if you would like to come out and share some tips and tricks.

Browns Powerline Trail is also a good trail to hit for noobs. has good view of some beaver ponds, and you might see the big beaver swimming around. There is some mud puddles on the north side of the loop. Would be a good starter trail. Powerline 4c Trail has a little challenge about mid section with a corner climb hole. Powerline 4d Trail has a big stump in the middle of the trail at the east end that is hard to get over. ODF may be taking it out in the next couple of weeks. Hoodraiser Trail is in real good condition and shouldn't be a problem for anyone. The road to the south of Rocky Uphill Trail is another good noob road to hit which will drop you down onto the Archers Firebreak Trail system. I can work up a map route if needed. We posted some pics of some of these trails Poorboy Offroad: poorboy1.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tsf&action=display&thread=8605&page=1

Thanks for the info, Ken.
I'll add Browns Powerline to the list. I haven't been on that trail in probably three or four years. I figured we'll start with the Powerline trails to let everyone get a feel for their rigs, and then gradually increase form there. We ran the entire Powerline trail at the SOLV event, so I got a good look at the potential tough spots.
I think the 8th is also an ODF work party day, so you'll probably see us at the staging area.

I'm going to be there. I'm not a Newbie by any means but would like to be there for all the cherokees and just to spend a day in the woods. I love running the easy trails. So count me in I will bring my cherokee if anyone wants to ride I have a seat open. Let me know!

It may be an easy day on the trails, but it will also be an opportunity to pass along tips and tricks to those new to wheeling. I'll be needing a few dependable people spread out throughout the group too. I'm expecting between 20-25 rigs to show up for this! We're also going to try and do a "PW style" group lunch as well. We'll have a few grills available, and variety of food to chow on. For those of you coming from the Vancouver area we'll be meeting at the PIR entrance parking lot between 7:45-8:00. It's pictured here on the right. We'll be on CB4 in the morning. Should be a good time! I just hope the weather cooperates with us.

Torx, thanks for cross posting this. I wasn't sure if it was just a XJ thing or not since its a Naxja run. Like I posted there I am in for sure, and still have that BBQ ready to go for ya. You can also count on me to help others back in the pack if needed. I noticed everyone is bringing something to share for food. So far we have the deserts taken care of and the dogs and buns covered as well......Pop may be needed as well as some chips, shredded cheese, paper plates, and napkins. Those are just ideas, I would ask Dustin what to bring if you want to bring something. I will be bringing the grill and some toppings for the dogs!

How much are the permits? $10.50 at the Gales Creek Shell, and they're good for two years.

Sounds like Poorboy is going to have about 5 rigs showing of noobies. They would like Renee & me to guide them around. We'll have to break up into a couple of groups from the sounds of it. If I work it right, shouldn't be a problem. We can have different groups start in different areas, so we don't have big back ups.

Preventing trail congestion is my number one goal. We're definitely going to have to do two groups, and if you can take a third that would be even better.
We'll probably be staging at the far east end of Rogers to prevent congesting the staging area and volunteers for the work party.
If anyone wants to bring something for lunch we'll be attempting to do a group lunch, with a few grills available. I'll be picking up a few packs of hotdogs and buns.
Watch out, newbies will be out in force this weekend. ;D
