Subject: TSF March Work Party
It's officially spring and time for the first OHV Trail Work Party of 2009!
We will be hosting a forest-wide work party to cover as much ground as
possible for trail clearing and assessment work.
This project is co-hosted by the Oregon Motorcycle Riders Association and by
Pacific Northwest 4x4 Association, Region 3. Both of these organizations
contribute hundreds of volunteer hours on OHV trails each year and are a
great way to get involved.
Project: Spring Trail Assessments & Clearing
Project Date: March 28 & 29, 2009
Meeting Time: Sign-In at 8:30 A.M. / Trail Work Starts at 9:00 A.M.
Meeting Location: 4x4 / Quads at Rogers Camp
Quads &
Motorcycles at Smith Homestead
Project Description:
Help the Oregon Department of Forestry clear designated OHV trails and
complete a spring trail condition and maintenance plan survey on the OHV
trail network in the Browns Camp Jordan Creek, and Diamond Mill areas. Hike,
drive or ride your favorite trails, clear storm debris and water drainage
structures and fill out a condition assessment survey form.
This work will help ODF set maintenance priorities for the spring and
identify potential volunteer work opportunities.
What to Bring:
* 4x4, ATV, or Motorcycle
(full safety gear required / all participants work in groups of two or more)
* Hand tools such as shovels, pulaskis, hand pruners / loppers,
cables or chains for pulling woody debris out of road / ditch line
* Chainsaw
(ODF requires full PPE w/ chainsaw use - hardhat, goggles, gloves, chaps,
ear protection, long pants / sleeves, leather shoes)
* Clipboard
* Pencils
* Digital Camera (optional)
If you plan to participate, please contact Stephanie Beall at least one week
prior to the work party date to let her know the dates you'll be out and how
many folks you'll have with you.
