Does Radio Shack still tune your CB with a SWR meter ? Or is there a good Truck/Radio/CB store close that dose ? I just installed a new CB antenna and coax and need to get it tuned. TIA ! ;D

I dont know about Radio Shack. But I do know for sure that D & R Communications in Clackamas will do it for free. (they always have for me anyway).
You can also get your own SWR meter at Flying J in troudale pretty reasonable.
I know there is a guy in Vancouver as well not too far from Vancouver Mall called Rebel CB he works out of his house. I know thats where I got my radio for my jeep on recommendation from Crystal she may still have his number.

Its quite easy to do it yourself if you read a little bit about it online, as well as the directions that comes with it. I looked into having mine tuned but it was almost the cost of the meeter. So I just bought one at Radio Shack, plus its a good learning experience. Now I seem to be the CB tunning guy in my group. I almost always carry it in my XJ.
Or you can go to Audio Source in Hazel Dell to have them do it. Not sure if Radio Shack does it, forgot to ask them I guess.

I was hoping to get a cb today...
No one seems to sell them locally, only online. I need instant gratification, internet shopping does not do it for me...
I called Vancouver John, but he is out till Sunday I believe...
Anyone got any other ideas on a place locally that I can go touch, feel and buy a CB? or has this concept gone the way of the dodo, transistor radio's, and pay phones...

Hey Jon,
Woody's 4x4 on St. Johns Road carries some of "Vancouver John's" products in stock (for impulse buyers)...
There is likely a small mark-up, but it's not much...
Good luck!

John,
Any truck stop in the local area Troutdale and N. Portland off I-5 exit 307 is Jubitz. I would suggest going with a Vancouver John product if you can find one at Woody's. That radio should already be "peaked" and "tweaked" for maximum performance. Dont worry nothing is going to blow up. Vancouver John does a great job at a reasonable price. I bought my radio from him used and all "tuned" up for 50 bucks a couple years ago. A new one on sale such as a Cobra 25 LTD will run in the neighborhood of 99 bucks to 125 bucks depending on where you go and if its on sale or not. Hope that helps.

I went to radio shack. Unless you get a tweeked CB, which aren't "legal" then they all have the same power output. You can score a decent cobra with mic gain, and a few other options for 50 bucks. It will work great for a trail/street rig.
P.S. I have an SWR meeter that I can bring to meetings if anyone is interested.
