Thank you to the Herbig family for hosting this months club run at TSF. It was a very relaxing, productive, fun weekend! Tommy arrived early on Friday and secured a spot for everyone. Annell, The Dillons, The Herbigs, and I all rolled on in throughout the day and evening. Saturday morning the Crowders arrived as we were all enjoying breakfast. After breakfast we did the pretrip rituals, air down, drivers meeting, ect... Then on the University Firepower for some trail maintenance it was! Hattie ready to lead the group Discussing the plan of action The stump at the beginning of the new section of University Firepower. Darel and Tommy taking turns in removing some of the stump. The finished product! On the top section there was a spot where someone had bypassed the entrance/exit of the trail. We decided to move a couple of stumps and logs into place to hopefully keep more people from taking this route. Crystal and Annell very quickly jumped on this task and told the rest of us to back off! Winching the stump across the road Second winch on the job The finished product!

Sunday morning Hootie and his friend Courtney arrived for a day of wheeling. We headed out powerline I picked up a stick along the way We pulled up to Little Rubicon and Hootie just went for it! So I ran on up to take pictures and do a little spotting Waving his leg! Almost but no matter what we did the front bumper and tire ended up in the rock. Pauls turn Paul ended up in a spot where he couldnt reverse out, or go forward without the winch. We ran some cable and in no time at all that ancient Warn had him to the top of the hill. Off to Rocky uphill Then to Can Opener. Petee and Hootie through the filter At the top Jeeps on a rock and all four tires are off of the ground Im starting to wonder about our spotter Hootie taking his shot at Can Opener Dave and Paul both made it to the top... With their winches Headed back to camp Sunday late afternoon.

That was a great weekend. I will again say thank you to everyone that came and helped support the first Pistons Wild official work party on our adopted trail University Firepower. Friday Tommy graciously headed to Browns camp early to make sure the club had a camping spot for the weekend. Boy did he find some nice ones. We were tucked into the first two spots on the camping loop backed right up to the creek. Which I know was nice for many after a sweaty, dusty day on the trail. Anna, Hattie and I arrived to find the Dillon family set up In one spot and Tommy and Annell in the other. We set up camp and started a fire and enjoyed each other company until Keenan showed up. Then we went back to silence for a second till he got a beer in him and we were back to lively conversation. Saturday morning was brisk to say the least. The day crew showed up around 8am and we had our drivers meeting at 9am then headed out. Loaded with garbage bags, trasharoos, shovels, loppers, lunches and 4 wheel drives Greg and Micheal Dillon, Tommy and Annell Morgan, Darel and Crystal Crowder, Daryl Keenan, Hattie, Anna and I were ready to make a difference. We drove the Powerline trail stopping a few times to pick up junk then to University Firepower. Tommy, Darel, Greg and I headed to the bottom of the first section. To verify placement of the future gates the club is building in order to close this section of the trail in the nasty season. While the girls for some crazy reason walked up the steep as can be hill to trim the branches that were starting to close in on it. We encountered a group of 8 rigs coming from Browns Camp that headed up UF after a little trail attention to a steaming yellow TJ. We determined after the girls (and Daryl) walked up the huge hill that most of the loping could be done from the passenger seat of a rig with a little skill and away we went. Down at the other side of the hill we again verified the gate placement location and hammered in some stakes. The third section is smooth and short so it went by fast and really didn't have much trash on it. At the beginning of section four we sectioned out a chunk of a stump that was causing some unwanted travel on the trail. We continued through the woods picking up trash and limbing as we went. At the end of the UF Crystal and Annell moved a few stumps to block a path that someone had illegally created. Daryl pretty much covered our adventures in his report so I'm going to stop there. I had already written most of this and I'm to lazy and stubborn to redo it cause Daryl's report is much better with pictures which I failed to take again due to lack of memory cards for the camera in the Jeep Big thanks to Daryl for the report and help all weekend. Pulling cable and spotting me through some tight obstacles. The Crowders for showing up and working when they clearly have allot on their plates right now. Tommy and Annell for heading down early and securing some awesome camping spots and all the trail work you two put in. The Dillon's for hanging out with this crazy club, working hard and bringing the entertainment (kids). James and Trika for your easy, laid back attitude and your hard work. Mostly my wife for letting me chase my crazy dreams and get out on the trail and do this stuff with my friends. Don't forget the kid, thanks Hattie for not crying in the Jeep, that would sure ruin things. I look forward to many more work parties on UF. I think we can do some cool things with it in the future.
