Just got back from a ride and after getting it off the trailer and on the trail, the quad would only do about 10-20 miles per hour. Seems like it is not shifting up(going faster). It was working fine on our last ride. Seems like you can't get anymore power out of the throttle. Doesn't seem like the clutch is slipping. No burning smell. Any ideas of the problem. Bill

I wouldnt have a clue about artic cat stuff. I know some of the quads that have computers on them since yours is so new I would imagine it does. But if the computer detects a problem it will back the engine power down in order to keep from hurting itself. I would imagine a sensor of some kind. When the computer dected a problem it put the quad into "limp" mode it sounds like to me.
How did the throttle act when you were in neutral just sitting there? Would it rev up like normal or seem like it was limited to a certain rpm range? This quad is fuel injected right?
Thats all I can come up with at the moment.

check your air filter awhile back mine and kiras quads did that on the same day up there. the filters were cloged from all the dust. You might get lucky thats a cheap fix.

Seems to give it's all. And it is not fuel injected.

Give it's all? Bill ya need to talk in mechanics terms. Do the RPM's come up? Are the brakes dragging? How does the engine sound smooth or is it miss firing? Idle? It has a CV carb, my first guess would be a pin hole in the diaphram, plugged fuel filter, or if it is laboring then you have a clutch shift out problem. Like your driving around in high gear all the time? or it won't shift out of first gear? How does the brake pedal / lever feel? is it rock hard or normal?

Ok...so I made it over Bill's house yesterday to look at/examine his quad. It starts up and idles just fine. After a few minutes of warming up, with machine in neutral, when you give it quick throttle, it revs up, but not as quick as I believe it should. Will rev up to 6000 rpm no problem, just a bit slow I think. When i got on it and backed it out of the driveway, reverse felt strong. Hit the limiter going backwards no problem. Got out on the street and on a street that is flat and level about the length of a football field or more, I couldnt get it over about 22 mph down and back. We got online to some forums and found people talking about similar problems on similar quads. This quad has the same 500 cc engine that comes in the Suzuki Vinson for comparison. People were talking about clogged/kinked fuel or fuel vent lines and also a bad vented gas cap. This quad doesnt look like it has a vented cap. Didnt find any kinks anywhere. It also has a vacuum activated petcock, so we disconnected the lines and blew out the petcock. It looks like it comes apart, but didnt try too hard as not to break it. Put everything back together and same story. nothing changed. Need a service manual, but Bill doesnt have one......Any thoughts? ?

quaddaddy-RPM's come up a bit slower than normal, brakes are fine. Engine sounds good. no popping or backfiring. No fuel filter anywhere unless its in the gas tank. This is belt driven. it has high and low range. brake pedal feels normal.

Scott, sounds like a plugged vent line for the gas tank or carb issues. run it with the gas cap off if no change rebuild the carb. Or do like I did on the lawn mower and fill the tank with carb cleaner let it sit over night, put in gas and all is good. Artic cat, snapper same same LOLOLOL. Hi ya Bill, it's got to be a fuel issue.
