After painting the rusty sheet metal that i exposed with POR-15 paint, I welded a 54" long piece of 1/8"x3" flatbar to tie the inner and outer rocker panels together. Made sure to notch two drain areas

I say angled brings the sexy back. But the flat is less noticable. Tough call. Niether are wrong to me.
On the leg shedders. After the amount of road crap and mud I have cleaned off my pants from past rigs with tube sliders that stuck out 3"-4" I would say no go for me on the cheese graders.

The last couple times I have driven the Jeepster I noticed a little rattle once warmed up. Today drove it to work and half way knock, knock, knock...I am beginning to loose excitement and motivation for this project...ugh!!!

I heard rattling coming from beneath my feet about a month ago... I was SUPER disappointed because I had just finished the build...
Come to find out that it was just a heat shield rattling against my header haha... I hope yours turns out to be just as easy!

I'm not giving up yet, thanx for the words of encouragement guys. I am looking at the sunnyside...good time for a V8 swap. The engine is currently the Buick V6 which is mated to a T14/dana 20. Going V8 will require changing tranny, SM465 is what I am thinking...I need to find a 1 ton Chevy 4x4 with a 4spd for all the running gear

A refresh on the v6 or a replacement one may be the way to go. It can be real easy to overlook the K.I.S.S. method when when your working on your project.

The other problem is if you get in a hurry it costs more. Either make a plan and start stacking parts while it runs or pull and rebuild. Lots of options though I will say this I had a bad motor in mine and I dropped in what was easy, cheap and bolt up to the trans I had. Though not ideal it works. If I had the benefit of time and money when I put that motor in I would have chosen differently. Made the big leap to a more modern and powerful plant. With trans options that supported a t case I chose not what I had. It has served me well but is not the final combo that will be in my rig. So I will have to swap again. Just food for thought

After taking a couple days the access the situation I decided to pinpoint the issue and repair so I can focus on other upgrades instead of a time/money involved swap. Call me Captian Overreaction, I found the rattle Phil hit the nail on the head. After making the trip to Hood River I changed the water pump and alternator belt. I thought it was odd that RTV was smeared on the long bolt that runs through the alternator and bracket to the block. Come to find out that same alternator is made for 3/8" bolt or a 7/16" bolt since both sizes have been used in production. When the new belt stretched with a little use, and the RTV cleaned off the lower bolt the rattle began. So there it is need to come up with a sleeve for the alternator. I feel relieved

Made some progress on the Dana 44 front this evening with a lot of help from my good friend Gary. Turns out I am starting with a Widetrack Wagoneer axle which sits around 65" wms to wms. M After torching off the driver side spring perch and shock mount we cut seven inches out of the axle tube to accommodate an early Bronco axle shaft on the long side. Putting the wms to wms at 58" Gary spun the "C" on the lathe to cut the weld and then we pressed and hammered until it was free We fit the "C" on the cleaned up housing and set caster 1/2 degree less than the passenger side to compensate for the crown of the road ....to be continued
