Hi Every body,
Run is scheduled for Saturday June 20.
Tahuya State Park trails are a one day trail system. 5 to 6 hours Longer if the weather is wet. Travel time to Tahuya approx 2 hrs.
Camping is not available so it would be a day trip. Options: Travel to tahuya orv for the day and then travel to Elbe hills, near Morton WA and run the trails there on Sunday. Camping is available at Elbe. Travel time to Elbe from Tahuya is 1.5 to 2 hrs. Trail system is small but very challenging. Lots of holes and mud. Winching will be required if your not careful with your line of travel.
I need a commitment before proceeding to arrange camping with the DNR. Also will you be camping in a tent, or motor home. Both are available. Primitive conditions, meaning no hook-ups for the motor homes.
Who is in for the run. Your suggestions welcomed
Thanks Bill

We (the Crowders) will be heading up to Tahuya for a day trip on Saturday, June 20th. We will be meeting for breakfast at Jollies Restaurant at Exit #9 off of I-5 at 5:00am for breakfast. We will be leaving Jollies promptly at 5:45am. Anyone is welcome to join us for the caravan up to Tahuya - please be fueled up and ready to go in Jollies parking lot by 5:45am. It's going to be a long day - dress in layers, be prepared for rain, pack plenty of food and beverages... Tahuya is approximately 140 miles from Jollies and should take about 2 1/2 hours to get there. Our goal is to be at the Mission Creek trailhead around 8:30am. Everyone is welcome to join us for this trip - 4x4's, ATV's and side-by-sides - there are trails for everyone in Tahuya... If you live in Washington, please be sure to get your Washington OHV sticker if you don't want a ticket. If you live in Oregon - your Oregon OHV permit is also valid in Washington. For additional information about the Tahuya area, please go to: www.dnr.wa.gov/AboutDNR/ManagedLands/Pages/amp_rec_tahuya_state_forest.aspxOn that link - you can click on "Tahuya Trail Closures" for the latest map of the area (middle-right of the page) We will NOT be travelling over to Elbe Hills with Scrambled Bill and Wyldman, but plan to enjoy the entire day at Tahuya and then travel back to Vancouver at the end of the day. Quadrapaws is the primary 4x4 club that takes care of the Tahuya area. When Piston's Wild gets a 4x4 trail system in the Yacolt Burn - these are the folks who set the example for the kind of club we should be. They have set the bar pretty high - but I think we're up for it... Here is a link to their website: home.comcast.net/~quadrapaws/So - who's going?

TAHUYA RUN CANCELLED!
DUE TO UXPECTED QUANTITIES OF RAINFALL IN THE TAHUYA STATE FOREST PREDICTED FOR THIS WEEKEND - WE HAVE CANCELLED THIS RUN FOR NOW AND WILL RESCHEDULE FOR LATER THIS SUMMER.
Tahuya is the closest thing we have in the Northwest to actual "rain forest". Two factors were determined in this decision to cancel this trip.
1) excess rain + excess mud + 4x4's = unnecessary damage to trail systems 2) most of those who had confirmed attending have open cab vehicles and tomorrow would have been more misery than fun
If you are still interested in going wheeling this weekend - contact Douglas Seal "Wyldman" at (360) 521-9612. He is planning on going wheeling (in his enclosed cab Jeep) in the Tillamook State Forest...
Everyone have a great Father's Day Weekend!

Yeah!! I mean shoot, I mean YEAH!! Now I can probably go next time since this weekend was fathers day.
I know how that rain is with open cabs, haha. It plain sucks, but good motivation to get a soft top.

<<<<UPDATE>>>> I'm sorry, due to a long honey do list I won't be doing any wheelin' this weekend. And the US OPEN is on TV. So if you decide to go get muddy, enjoy yourself and be safe.
