Included you will find a posting I copied from poorboyoffroad.com
It is a letter to the forum members regarding a valuable piece of private property in the hills above St. Helens Oregon. The owners have created a decent offroad playground. I have been there a couple times and have enjoyed it. I planned on revisiting the event again. The property includes mud, mud bogs, trails and hill climbs. It is challenging and is slick fun. I have made a personal donation to the owners of $25. I encourage anyone who can to please make a donation to the owners. As you know public land can not allow this type of recreation. Many illegal offroaders try to create these types of places in sensitive areas. Private properties like this are a great alternative to having public forest damaged. It gives us a place to refer mudders to. I will be asking the membership to also make a club donation that I will let the club discuss at the next meeting. A link to the website is included following the letter. Thanks for helping. Dave. Letter next.

To all our PNW wheelin' freinds & loyal mud run participants/attendees & volunteers:
We have come to a very difficult fork in the road concerning the future of the St.Helens mud run as we have come to know it & love it. During the last six months we have been in the early stages of regulatory compliance & investigation. Site visits by Oregon Land Use Board personell & many hrs. on the phone/ e-mails/ofice visits.
Whether you were of aware of it or not the Mud Run has literally been a TWO man show. With hundreds of man hrs. put in by the ALL VOLUNTEER staff.
Grant was one of the unfortunate 300 employees to lose his job when Boise Cascade sold two paper machines & 300 families down the river, @ the St.Helens paper mill. He had been there 10 yrs., they let him go in January. While he has recently gained employment, the financial issues are spiraling out of control.
My involvement as the "event organizer" really has meant that between Grant & myself we paid for everything up front & hoped we made enought to repay the costs incurred.
This has NOT been a profitable venture. We both love wheelin' & the PNW wheelers who have helped to make this event what it ultimately became: a family freindly off road happening/event.
Thank you so much!!
Had we chose to not agree w/county regulators & voluntarily cease operations,we would both be in circuit/federal court looking @ "willfull non compliance" environmental charges.
We believe we are doing the right thing.
So if you are willing to put you support behind the St.Helens Mud Run, we are willing to continue to move forward w/permitting & regulatory hoop jumping.
We are humbly asking for donations. Our first goal is the $1750 permit/application fee to Ore D.E.Q. for the ESCP permit.
