I'm planning a trip Labor Day Weekend Saturday Sept 5th - Tuesday the 8th that will include Tahuya, Elbe Hills, and Evans Creek ORV Parks. I don't know in what order these parks will be run. If you know your going and have a preference, post up with that info. I don't need to lead this... I'm just getting the wheel rolling.
At this time I don't have camping info. If you require a sophisticated facility to camp in due to special needs or the size of you vehicle. I would recommend working those details out yourself and I will just tag along, cause I'm using a tent and require a small amount of space.
I'm not familiar with these parks to know if all trails have a by-pass or how difficult the trails are to say if a particular vehicle will or will not make it through the trails. If someone knows more about the level of difficulty in these parks, please let us know.
I'm really looking forward to seeing new trails and scenery. I hope we can make this a Great trip.
Until Next Time... Enjoy! Wyldman

Just a reminder of this trip coming up. You don't need to come up for the whole weekend. If you want to meet for the day at a particular park to wheel let me know. This is a "What Ever goes Trip". One thing is, I might have a rig coming from ARB to wheel one of the days. I don't know yet. I'll post the info when I have it.

The wrap up. I didnt drive the XJ on the trails for obvious reasons. Anything larger then a wrangler got body damage 90% of the time from the rigs I was seeing....not to mention the carnage I witnessed first hand on quite a few of them. The trails were tight, muddy and full of stumps and roots. Some large watering holes were found occasionally as well as a set of slick rock faces. I chose to ride along with Doug while the wife read some books by the camp fire, which she enjoyed. Our group for the task at hand was our WONDERFUL host Dan, and that wonderful cannot be stressed more. I will explain in a sec. Another member was Floyd. Floyd drove a multi colored Toyota buggy while Dan had a yellow sami. On the note of hospitality from Dan, it came in so many ways. First off he let us camp for free in his spot, and stay in his 29' toy hauler.....YES a complete stranger who we had never seen in person let us stay with him in his trailer only minutes after meeting us. He had Lasagna cooked and waiting along with green beans and cocktails, FREE. He then offered beer and pop and all other drinks for the night, again FREE. Morning came, HE cooked us biscuits and sausage gravy and eggs with milk or whatever we wanted to drink, yep FREE. Lunch came and HE cooked us chili dogs with all the fixings like cheese and onions etc, but we had to cook our own dogs..haha again FREE. Dinner came and you guessed it, HE cooked for us again. We had fresh halibut, salmon and garlic/butter mashed potatoes, and for the last time it was FREE lol. Dan led us all over the place, showing us the trails and leading the way. By far was a great experience for not knowing what to expect. Evans Creek was fun, a whole different animal then BC. There trails are numbered with no difficulty levels stated. I will let Doug specify the levels since he was the driver. Enough of the story lets get to the photos...... Our Trio Since I dont really remember what pics go where, and there not in order on my memory card I will just post shots, and maybe a little detail to explain some. This first set of shots was the first trail we were on. Doug was fortunate to have a map that they gave us, unfortunately they had no more when I went to grab one.....so he will have to post it up so you can see the trail system. We ran into a traffic jamb on this rocky hill area, at least 1 hour or so for the wait to get up the hill. We had the unfortunate luck to be behind a bunch of stock open rigs, oh well they were having fun. I took some shots of them to pass the time. Me and Doug also filled his shopping bag full of trash along the trail. This was the second trail for the day, BUT to make us all laugh at why we are not in High School anymore, here's some shots of what not to do when you only have 2wd and no strap, to his defense he had another rig with him, who also didn't have a strap. We don't know how long they were there but I'm guessing a little while. LOL Yep he stripped down to his skibbies. Now thats a lesson, and it was cold and wet. I wonder how cold that water was, haha His friends basking in the delight that they didn't attempt this first, and of course giving there buddy grief. Notice the water. That was long after he had opened that door. The water was hiding somewhere cause it kept pouring out.

CONTINUATION: Back to the trail. This was the second trail we went on for the day. Didnt look bad till I seen the top of the Sami darn near touch the bank....WHOA!! So I ran up around the corner and up the hill to see him resting at an angle. I asked if he wanted to try it agian I would spot him and he said nope....I flopped it here last time too and its not going to happen again. OK.....so I grabbed the winch line and headed for a tree. No problem after that. The last for Kayla and I but not least for Doug. This was by far the best trail of the day. Me and Doug had a blast on this one. This trail had it all. There was a rock garden in the middle of the trail, Huge stumps and down trees, Deep cutouts in the earth that reminded you of some far off place. The fog was in a bit and it was just eerie at times. More like an adventure! Removing some debris from the bead. We were both surprised at the tires for staying on.....really surprised. On the way back to camp for the day, we came across a couple of Yamaha Blaster sitting on the side of the road. After us stopping and them Scratching there helmets, they then asked if we had a strap to so they could tow one of them back. My guess is one was out of gas. All went well for a few hundred feet, then no go. Scratching there helmets again they asked, Ummm another strap cause this ones out of gas now. LOL now that's bad luck. So Dan hooked up to him like a good little mother duck does...hence yellow Suzuki, and yes we gave him grief for it, and yeah he took it all too well. He towed them the next half mile or so to camp where my trip ended for Evans Creek. ooohh how precious is this. I had to Dan.....just messing with ya! I wish I had a shot of the accommodations Dan had for us. I was too busy being spoiled rotten like I was his own son, so I failed to. I think Doug may have gotten some. A great trip indeed. I wish I could have spent more time up there. Thanks Again to Dan and Floyd for the great trip, and to Floyd's Daughter Kelsey "gosh I hope thats right, I'm terrible with names" who was friends with the kid in the white ranger for the good time.....lol Now to the videos.....There are some good ones this time! Get ready to laugh and gasp. s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2791.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2794.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2797.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2799.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2806.flvI give this guy props....he was open diff and the only one to make it like this. s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2810.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2811.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2829.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2835.flvs731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-5-09%20Evans%20Creek/?action=view¤t=MVI_2838.flvMy signature out the door video. Joey did a good job in telling the story so I won't go into to much of that. The trails up at Evans Creek would mostly be single black diamond if you compared them with TSF. There were some spots that got a little worse. What makes them difficult is the water as always. I had a Great time on Sat with the three rigs. Joey rode with me. After a good day wheelin Joey and Kayla left that night. I really appreciate you guys coming up for the day. Sunday got interesting though. Our three rigs headed out, with Floyd's daughter riding with me. We went to run another trail. Got half way through it and found some steering linkage bolts loose on the Toyota. So no big deal... As we started to fix that and we noticed that the frame was completely cracked at the steering box . Big problem! So we used a ratchet strap to hold it together and limped it back to camp. That was about noon. With the weather the way it was and the Floyd's rig busted, I decided to head on home I can't say enough about our host. Thank You Dan for on awesome short lived time. Your always welcome down here for some Southern hospitality. Here are some pics at the camp: Our host Dan cooking a wonderful breakfast Our camp site as dry as you can keep one with a huge trap over head Dan's huge toy hauler and Floyd's truck camper combo in the back ground. All in all a good trip. just wish the weather was better. Until Next Time... Enjoy! Wyldman
