I though I would let some light shine on the awesome wonder of climbing a mountain. Since most people never get to experience it, I though I would share some photos of the beauty and fun we have when we climb. This was the most recent trip this year. Enjoy!
Staging area, the ranger said park aggressively, lol. She didn't see what I was driving.
This is a shot of me looking back up the mountain. Its a hike for sure.
This is my humble home. Most people try not to hide there tent but I do haha. We leave hundreds of dollars worth of gear in our tents to climb the second day. We pack a day pack with the bare essentials and leave the larger pack, and gear behind.
Theres no experience like eating on the mountain. EVERYTHING tastes better. Even just a slice of bread, its crazy true.
A view looking up from my tent. This is steep slope called false summit. Reason is, is its just that. The summit is way higher then that, but you have to crest the top of this first. Also a shot of the crew for this trip. What a handsome bunch, lol
This is a shot looking down from false summit. Check the view! It gets way better at the summit though.
This is a view looking down from the top of false summit. Our tents are way down there. You should be able to see speckles of tents. That area down where the tents are is called the Lunch Counter.
These are some shots looking down at False Summit. This isn't the summit yet. The false summit is straight out in front of me. If you look close you can see the trial in the snow down below.
One of my buddies Calvin trudging up the trail. I love how the snow was this year, all stalagmiteish.
And Finally the summit. There used to be a building up here, but I don't know what it was. I think it was an observatory for fires.
We cant forget the poser shots...haha yep we even do them on the mountain. Its not just for wheeling.
Me and my brother Seth. All three of us brothers normally climb together but this year my middle brother Rich climbed the previous week with some of the other crew that couldn't make it this week.
NOW, I am leaving out the best photos.....for a reason. We traditionally strip to our boxers, boots and hats for a shot at the summit. Cold, ha you can bet your buns it cold. I lost feeling in my finger tips for at least 30 minutes. I didn't want to offend anyone with them so I wont. But they are funny that's for sure. We head off the mountain for our tradition, A big burger, fries and a huckleberry shake or two at the local hole in the wall. Then we head home. I hope you enjoyed this little trip.
