This the guy I drove out to Dundee to check it out the rig, liked it and shook hands for full price. Then a couple of days later I finally got him to answer my calls. He said that since he got so many interested people in the rig he wanted more money. And what would I pay. I said just what we shook on. And he said NO. So PLEASE help me show this guy down by flagging him on Craigslist. portland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/1361924118.htmlportland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/1357607933.htmlThis is the ad. I see your point, but....here it comes....I can see his point of view as well, though its not right. Not fair to flag him for a ligament add. I would be pissed too though.

I agree that flagging may not be appropriate.. So.. I wrote him a letter..

I am writing to appeal to your heart. My friend Bill came and looked at your Jeep. You and he agreed on the price and shook hands.. You then backed out by saying you had many replies and would raise your price. I am asking you to please reconsider and allow Bill to buy your Jeep. Bill is a great person who will take premium care of your jeep. He is active in the care and preservation of the forests and active in trail maintenence. He and his family would love your jeep. If you don't have his number and wish to contact him you may reply to me and I will get you and he back in touch. Thanks for your time. Dave.

I got this reply from the seller..
quote
The last time I spoke to Bill he said he had found another Jeep and was no longer interested in my Jeep. That's where we're at. I realized I had got a lot of replies b/c I did price it too low. I know it's not kosher to be wish-washy as a seller, but when I actually sat down and did the math, I realize that I'm over $16K into the Jeep excluding the winch. I did not plan properly prior to listing the Jeep for sale. If you're friend what's to call me again, he has my contact info from the ad as do you. Perhaps we can re-negotiate a price and I'm willing to throw in extras like the winch plate, high-lift jack, etc...I think $14000 is a fair price for the Jeep. Thank you for the email. Mark

Bill's got a jeep already - Its a "cute" jeep. I see where he is coming from. If I had shook hands with someone on a deal and then they backed out I'd be uhmmm... bent. Thats how I'll put it. I've also been in the sellers shoes and after having shook hands (so to speak) realized I could have gotten more... My bad. To agree to a deal and back out is... uhmmmm.... lame. Thats how I'll put it. The seller should have manned up and followed through on the deal he made. At the same time - Bill you've got your jeep and I actually like it better..... Move on man... Thats my .02

Thanks Dave and Jon. I'm cool. I just wanted the guy and others to see it's nice to be wishy-washy and shack hands on a deal, then walk away. Just wanted to let him know the power of the internet and friend.
I'm done with him and moving on.........

The joy of craigslisters....... There are a lot of shady people on there. Lately I've been seeing a lot of "Best offer over $...." Craigslist is not an auction site, e-bay is
